Position Overview:
As a Hull & Deck Infusion – Composites Technician, you will be responsible for infusing high-performance composite parts used in the structure and systems of our autonomous vessels. You will focus on large molds: loading dry material & stringers, installing vacuum manifolds, bagging, drop tests, leak detection, maintaining vacuum catch pots, mixing resin and MEKP to appropriate ratios, and other infusion techniques. This hands-on role is critical to our manufacturing process and directly impacts product reliability and performance.Â
Key Responsibilities:
Attention to detail and commitment to industry-leading standards Â
Prepare molds and tooling for composite layup and infusionÂ
Perform precise hand layups using dry fiber materialsÂ
Set up and execute vacuum-assisted resin infusion processesÂ
Mix and handle resins, hardeners, and other composite materials in accordance with safety protocolsÂ
Ensure each fiberglass layer is installed to prevent bridging, wrinkling, and resin richnessÂ
Install core with minimal gaps Â
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant workspaceÂ
Interpret technical drawings, layup schedules, and process documentation using a tabletÂ
Collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to iterate on part design and manufacturabilityÂ
Document work performed and identify process improvements or quality issuesÂ
Work with a sense of urgencyÂ
Mix putty, debur surfaces to prep for dry loading fiberglass and duties as assignedÂ
Requirements:
2+ years of hands-on experience with composites manufacturing, particularly resin infusion at a high rate boat building factoryÂ
Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a quality-first mindsetÂ
Experience with vacuum bagging hull and decksÂ
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, iterative environmentÂ
Familiarity with vinyl ester and polyester resins, carbon fiber, dry fiberglassÂ
Comfortable using trimming tools, grinders, and measurement instrumentsÂ
Able to read technical drawings and follow standard operating proceduresÂ
U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident) required due to DoD contract workÂ
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to use a MVP Hight Output SystemÂ
Experience with marine composite fabricationÂ
Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systemsÂ
Forklift or crane certification a plusÂ
