Job Overview

The Human Resources Generalist is part of a strategic Human Resources team to provide guidance and support to managers and staff. The Human Resources Generalist ensures Human Resources processes and procedures are consistently communicated and administered throughout the facility. Has thorough knowledge of corporate and local Human Resources policies, as well as federal and state law, as it pertains to recruitment, compensation, benefit administration and employee relations.

 

This position is full time, exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $66,144.00/yr - $99,236.00/yr. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Coaches/ Counsels and advises management and employees on employee relations issues to create an environment of mutual respect; mediating issues to quick resolutions; exhibits an open, helpful style, welcoming management and employees to approach; ensures visibility throughout the facility.
  • Provide expert individual conflict identification and resolution. Act as an internal consultant by assisting and coaching line managers with a variety of human resources issues including: performance reviews & feedback, employee relations issues, EEO Reporting; performance management, compensation.
  • Facilitates employee understanding of local and corporate HR policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal and state regulations. Stays current of all laws; provides interpretation and periodic updates to management and staff.

Compensation/Benefits

  • Interprets and applies all legal and SHC policies governing compensation practice.
  • Assists managers and supervisors develop job descriptions.
  • Provide market salary analysis utilizing various compensation surveys and evaluates current wage/salary structures. Makes recommendations to Market HR Director to align SHC compensation with market trends.
  • Review and calculate employee internal equity and make recommendations for change as appropriate adhering to the SHC compensation philosophy and standards.
  • Review new hire’s application/resume and make salary recommendation to the Market HR Director based on SHC salary range, years of experience and internal equity.
  • Supports corporate benefit implementation; accurately and effectively communicate benefit information, as well as plan changes.
  • Stays informed of updated laws and regulations.
  • HIPAA understands all employment-related decisions are to be made independent of Personal Health Information(PHI).

Compliance

  • Coordinate efforts to meet HR standards for compliance with Joint Commission and or regulatory requirements CMS and other state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation, records and files to ensure compliance with legal, corporate and national regulations. Ensure legal compliance in all employee related policies and activities. Understands federal and state labor laws and their potential impact and applies appropriately.
  • Performance Appraisal Management
  • Serves as an Administrator on the Halogen electronic performance evaluation system. Offers guidance and training to the leadership team on the performance appraisal process and expectations.
  • Provides consistent input on performance in consultation with Market HR Director; to include initial planning/review session, annual performance appraisal, and counseling, if necessary, based on defined criteria and in compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Remain abreast of system enhancements and changes made by HQ HR.

HRIS

  • Maintains timely and accurate employee status and payroll information. Generates PAF changes in Fast Forward; perform monthly reporting review and forward discrepancies to corporate office.
  • Performs review of position administration, noting position changes, additions and deletions; ensure timely correction of discrepancies in record; reconciles with the Market HR Director.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge in utilizing the HRIS system for data analysis and employee trouble shooting needs.
  • Remain abreast of system enhancements and changes made by Corporate HR.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3 years of human resources experience
  • Computer proficiency and strong sense of confidentiality
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • MS Office experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

 

Preferred:

 

  • 3 years of experience working in a healthcare setting
  • 3 to 5 years of HR experience
  • Workday experience
  • Professional HR / Senior Professional HR Certification (PHR or SPHR)
  • HR certification by SHRM or ASHHRA
