Industrial Mechanic

Location: Dixon, CA

Shift: Day shift November - May (Months are variable based on season)

Night shift June - October (Peak season, Months are variable based on season)

Pay Range: $36.18 - $40.07 per hour, depending on experience

HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE…

As a Mechanic at Campbell Soup Supply Company’s tomato processing facility, you will play a critical role in keeping our manufacturing operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will leverage your advanced mechanical expertise to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve processing equipment while supporting production goals, food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. This is a full-time position with seasonal overtime required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO…

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul plant mechanical equipment and processing systems.
  • Support and maintain steam systems, steam turbines, evaporator processes, and gas-fired boilers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities and equipment inspections.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and troubleshoot to the component level using manuals, schematics, blueprints, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Identify and requisition replacement parts through the plant’s logistics system.
  • Observe equipment operation and identify abnormalities through visual and auditory inspection.
  • Maintain and repair:
    • Pumps
    • Motors
    • Gearboxes
    • Chains and sprockets
    • Shafts, couplings, keys, and keyways
    • Bearings and bearing assemblies
  • Analyze bearing failures and determine probable root causes.
  • Perform equipment alignment using precision measurement and laser alignment tools.
  • Operate and safely maintain mechanical shop equipment, including drill presses, grinders, sanders, band saws, torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Work with pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, and basic electrical systems while following all lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks, including:
    • Oxyacetylene welding and cutting
    • Brazing
    • Stick welding
    • MIG welding
    • TIG welding
  • Follow all safety protocols, welding permit requirements, fire watch procedures, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and maintenance team members to resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE)

  • Advanced experience with:
    • Steam systems
    • Steam turbines
    • Evaporator processes
    • Gas-fired boilers
  • Strong mechanical maintenance experience with industrial manufacturing equipment, including pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing large-scale manufacturing or food processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Chains, sprockets, gears, gear ratios, and power transmission systems
    • Bearings, bearing installation techniques, and failure analysis
    • Lubrication systems, lubricant selection, storage, and handling
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Blueprints
    • Schematics
    • Technical manuals
    • Equipment documentation
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, and basic electrical systems.
  • Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and industrial safety practices.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and measurements required for maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to work seasonal overtime as required.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE)

  • Experience in a food processing, agricultural processing, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with laser alignment tools and precision equipment alignment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for rotating equipment and steam-related systems.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Formal mechanical maintenance training, apprenticeship, trade certification, or related technical education.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Multi-craft experience including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and welding disciplines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Industrial food processing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment and energized systems.
  • Exposure to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, and utility equipment.
  • Frequent use of diagnostic tools, precision measurement devices, hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Exposure to heat, noise, vibration, and varying environmental conditions.
  • Seasonal overtime required to support production demands.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
