About the role


Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Inventory Controller is responsible for leading inventory operations in our fast-paced manufacturing center. This role is critical to ensure the availability of raw materials, components, and finished goods to support uninterrupted production and efficient order fulfillment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manufacturing environments, with a deep understanding of inventory control systems, lean principles, and supply chain coordination.


What you'll be doing


Receiving

  • Verify incoming supplier shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Unpack materials, label parts, and distribute to inventory locations, inspection, or other departments as required.
  • Resolve accounts payable discrepancies related to supplier deliveries.

Material Distribution

  • Daily replenishment of production inventory to ensure parts are available to support production schedules.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to production lines to avoid downtime.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventory counts, including coordinating counts within production area.
  • Carry out self-audits and inspections to ensure compliance with inventory practices.
  • Safeguard approximately $5M worth of raw materials and ensure physical security.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, correct perpetual records and update procedures to prevent recurrence.

Kitting

  • Prepare kits of electronic components to support assembly orders in-house and at contract manufacturers (CMs).
  • Assemble job kits for products not stocked in production area.
  • Prepare parts and create packing slips for shipments to CMs.

Inter-departmental Support

  • Collaborate with the Production Director and Supervisors to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to maintain inventory to support repairs.

Process Improvement

  • Implement lean inventory practices (Kanban, JIT, FIFO).
  • In collaboration with Production staff, implement improved inventory movement and inventory tracking methods.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and material flow to improve efficiency.
  • Develop, document, and enforce SOPs for inventory handling, storage, and reporting.

Systems & Reporting

  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage inventory transactions and reporting.
  • Analyze inventory trends and KPIs to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver regular inventory performance reports to management.

Team Leadership

  • Train and coach team members to ensure compliance with inventory procedures.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.



What We’re Looking For


    Qualifications:

    • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business-related discipline.
    • Minimum 5 years of production or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SYSPRO).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in basic Excel functions
    • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must be highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing demands, and maintain detailed records.
    • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a Technical Diploma.
    • ASCM CPIM Certification (or working towards it).
    • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data visualization tools.
