Position Overview

DataOne is seeking an experienced Inventory Specialist to oversee inventory operations supporting our mission-critical data center in Vineland, NJ. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, accuracy, and organization of spare parts, consumables, and technical equipment that support our Electrical, HVAC, and IT teams.

The ideal candidate has strong experience managing inventory operations in an industrial or technical environment and is capable of improving inventory processes, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring efficient stockroom operations. This role requires someone who can take ownership of inventory management while partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Purchasing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the inventory stockroom and maintain accurate inventory records using GLPI or similar inventory management software.
  • Record all inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, transfers, and stock adjustments.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and annual physical inventories while investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate item master data, including part numbers, quantities, storage locations, and item classifications.
  • Monitor inventory levels, establish reorder points, and maintain appropriate safety stock for critical spare parts.

Receiving & Warehouse Operations

  • Receive, inspect, and verify inbound shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Organize and maintain the stockroom according to safety and operational standards.
  • Prepare and issue materials for preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs.
  • Process vendor returns and manage Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) activities.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with vendors and carriers.

Inventory Planning & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain standardized inventory procedures and best practices.
  • Analyze inventory performance and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Track and report key inventory metrics, including inventory accuracy, stock valuation, inventory turnover, and stock availability.
  • Support purchasing activities by assisting with requisitions, vendor coordination, and inventory planning.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Purchasing teams to ensure critical spare parts are available while minimizing excess inventory.

Asset Management

  • Track technical and IT assets using the inventory and asset management system.
  • Ensure complete traceability of equipment entering and leaving secure areas.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technicians regarding inventory availability and stock requests.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all data center security procedures and access control requirements.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations and safe material handling practices.
  • Ensure proper disposal and recycling of electronic waste and decommissioned equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.

Required

  • High school diploma or GED; Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in inventory, warehouse, or stockroom management within an industrial, manufacturing, maintenance, pharmaceutical, energy, or mission-critical environment.
  • Proven experience managing inventory operations, maintaining inventory accuracy, and improving inventory processes.
  • Experience managing spare parts inventory and using inventory management systems, ERP, or CMMS platforms (GLPI, SAP, Maximo, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of receiving, shipping, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, stock control, and inventory reporting.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, work 100% on-site, lift up to 50 lbs, and work occasional overtime as needed.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Forklift certification and/or OSHA 10 certification.
