About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE

Theย Labourer Iย performs manual labour duties involved in the operations and maintenance of Fort McKay First Nation. Duties include cleaning and maintaining all assigned areas, grounds, buildings, and facilities; using basic hand tools and equipment; and performing labour work of a general nature. The work is of a limited skill nature and no prior experience or training is required.ย 


KEY RESPONSIBITIES

Responsible for the minor maintenance of one or more of the following types of duties:

  • Lawn and grounds maintenance, including but not limited to using push lawnmowers, trimmers, edgers, sod cutters
  • Manual snow removal, including but not limited to using shovels and walk-behind snowblowers
  • Sanding slippery walkways
  • Weeding, raking, picking rocks
  • Digging holes
  • Moving appliances and furniture, such as but not limited to fridges, stoves, washers, or dryers
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Collecting refuse from properties, parks, playgrounds, and streets
  • Assisting with the construction and maintenance of fences, decks, steps, and guardrails
  • Manually sweeping sidewalks and clearing fallen debris and leaves
  • Cleaning and power washing buildings and other areas
  • Participating as a team member, supporting FMFN operations and maintenance as required, and following and supporting all health and safety requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • No previous education or experience is required but is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with Clean Driver's Abstract is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of outdoor activity.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible or irregular hours based on weather conditions.

The Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN) is composed of over 800 band members, including those of Cree and Dene heritage, with approximately 400 members residing in the hamlet of Fort McKay โ€” a community located approximately 65 km north of Fort McMurray.
