About the Role

We are looking for a highly driven and detail-oriented Lead Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) to join our engineering team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in designing and developing mechanical systems/subsystems for high-volume products, preferably from the Robotics, Consumer Electronics, or Electronics Manufacturing domain.
This role requires strong ownership across the complete product development lifecycle — from concept and feasibility to design validation and manufacturing readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of products/systems/subsystems from concept to production.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of mechanical design engineers, ensuring effective task allocation, technical guidance, timely delivery, and overall team development.
  • Ensure the design aligns with product architecture, functional requirements, quality, reliability, and cost objectives.
  • Drive NPD/NPI activities, including prototype development, validation, pilot builds, and mass production readiness.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Electronics, Firmware, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams.
  • Conduct concept studies, feasibility analysis, and introduce innovative technologies/processes.
  • Ensure designs comply with safety, reliability, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Perform structural design, tolerance analysis, hand calculations, and FEM/FEA analysis.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, EBOMs, and engineering documentation.
  • Conduct DFMEA and proactively identify product and manufacturing risks.
  • Drive DFM/DFA practices to optimize product manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
  • Support vendor development, tooling discussions, and production issue resolution during ramp-up.
  • Ensure modular integration consistency and product certification compliance.
  • Define work breakdown structure, timelines, effort estimates, and cost assessments for assigned modules/projects.
  • Maintain proper engineering documentation as per company and industry standards.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, materials, and engineering practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of experience in mechanical design & development.
  • Mandatory experience in NPD/NPI for mass-produced products.
  • Prior experience in Robotics, Consumer Electronics, Electronics Manufacturing, or Medical Devices preferred.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Structural design & hand calculations
    • 3D CAD modeling and manufacturing drawings
    • FEM/FEA analysis
    • DFMEA, DFM/DFA, material selection, and EBOM creation
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo/Pro-E, Solid Edge, or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes, tooling, and production engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601 or similar compliance standards is a plus.

Why Join Miko?

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge consumer robotics products.
  • Exposure to end-to-end product development and manufacturing scale-up.
  • Collaborative and innovation-driven engineering culture.
  • High-impact role with strong ownership and growth opportunities.
