About this role

Who we are looking for

This key role will be responsible for the coordination, execution and ongoing enhancement of legal entity governance frameworks, regulatory deliverables, and operational resiliency management requirements across all Australian legal entities. This role will cover all first line risk management activities including outsourcing and business continuity frameworks and oversight of global frameworks locally as they intersect with the Country legal entities.

  • report to the Head of Legal Entity Governance Australia, be a leader and key stakeholder manager for the team and support all aspects of Australian legal entity governance and act as a key coordination point for related governance activities with stakeholders.
  • require strong knowledge and understanding of Australian legal entity operations, APRA and ASIC regulatory expectations, board and committee governance practices, and the broader State Street organization.
  • lead by example and support risk excellence and the culture of the organization.
  • require a high degree of integrity, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • support the design, coordination and maintenance of Australian legal entity risk and governance frameworks, including Business Risk Management activities and alignment with relevant State Street standards.
  • support the implementation of regulatory, governance and first line risk initiatives for the Australian legal entities, coordinating across business units and control functions for legal entity-wide projects, audits, reviews and regulatory change activities.
  • be responsible for the implementation, maintenance of, and monitoring adherence to applicable policies and procedures to support regulatory requirements.
  • be responsible for the development and maintenance of governance frameworks, policies and management of any framework managing the authority of operations of the legal entities.
  • support Australian legal entity governance requirements relating to all Operational Resiliency requirements of the local programs to meet both internal and external regulatory requirements including, outsourcing, offshoring, third party risk management, intragroup engagements and material service provider oversight.
  • have direct responsibility for the framework and oversight of  operational resiliency governance for the Australian legal entities, including critical operations, impact tolerances, business continuity governance and related documentation required for Australian regulatory and internal governance purposes.
  • support reporting to Australian legal entity governance forums, including board, risk and outsourcing committees and management governance meetings, to enable effective oversight, decision-making and execution of legal entity obligations.
  • monitor upcoming Australian governance and regulatory milestones and support escalation of delivery risks, dependencies or emerging issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in banking, finance or a related industry, with a focus on governance, compliance, or risk management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian regulatory requirements and governance practices, including APRA CPS 230 operational risk management, critical operations, business continuity, material service provider management and operational resilience expectations, together with a thorough understanding of State Street’s business and product offerings.
  • Experience supporting CPS 230 implementation or oversight, including working knowledge and experience with oversight of impact tolerances, BCP, material service provider registers, regulatory reporting, issue management and governance reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, organizational and communication skills, with an ability to influence others and promote teamwork across the organization.
  • High ethical standards, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
