This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity for a friendly, organised and motivated individual to gain valuable experience within a busy primary school office. Working alongside experienced administrative and business professionals, you will develop essential business administration, customer service and organisational skills while supporting the day-to-day running of the school.


Apprenticeship Summary


  • Salary: £12,480 per year (based on £8.00 per hour)
  • Working Week: Monday to Wednesday 9:15am – 4:15pm, Thursday 8:15am – 4:15pm, Friday 8:15am – 1:15pm (1-hour lunch Monday to Thursday)
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Working Weeks: Term time only (approximately 40 weeks per year)
  • Training: Online apprenticeship training supported by experienced tutors
  • Qualification: Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard
  • Location: Hasmonean Primary School, 8–10 Shirehall Lane, London, NW4 2PD

The Role


We are looking for a Business Administrator Apprentice to join our friendly and supportive school office team. You will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day administration of the school by providing high-quality administrative support to staff, pupils, parents and visitors.


This role offers hands-on experience within a busy educational environment, providing the opportunity to develop skills in school administration, communication, customer service and business support while working alongside experienced colleagues.


Main Duties


  • Provide general administrative support within the school office.
  • Maintain accurate pupil and parent records using Arbor, the school's Management Information System (MIS).
  • Support the administration of daily pupil attendance registers.
  • Answer telephone calls and take accurate messages.
  • Welcome visitors, assist with signing-in procedures and direct them appropriately.
  • Support the Business Manager with ordering school supplies and resources.
  • Check, unpack and organise deliveries when orders arrive.
  • Assist with processing supplier invoices within the school's finance systems.
  • Support teachers with the administration of educational visits and school trips.
  • Assist with collecting payments and funds where required.
  • Produce and prepare routine correspondence and administrative documents.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive pupil and school information.
  • Build positive working relationships with staff, parents, pupils and visitors.
  • Comply with school policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
  • Attend training sessions, meetings and professional development activities.
  • Undertake any other reasonable administrative duties as directed by the Business Manager or senior leadership team.

Training and Development


As an apprentice, you will receive support through both workplace learning and formal apprenticeship training. This will typically include:

  • Study towards the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Practical workplace training from experienced school administration and business professionals.
  • Regular mentoring and progress reviews.
  • Training in school administration systems, customer service, business support and office procedures.
