About this role

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Vice President to join the Loan HQ transformation team. The successful candidate will bring strong loans subject matter expertise, product ownership discipline, and practical experience working across business, technology, operations, client, and vendor stakeholders. This role will support the delivery of Loan HQ, State Street’s strategic platform for Loans and Private Credit, by helping shape, prioritise, and execute solutions that improve loan servicing, automate manual processes, strengthen controls, and create a scalable digital operating model for our clients.

Why this role is important to us

The Loan HQ team is part of the Global Delivery Simplification programme and is delivering a strategic, centralised platform that brings together loan controls, workflows, data, reporting, automation, and business processes. The successful candidate will play an important role in translating business needs into deliverable product outcomes, supporting Agile execution, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver high-quality functionality across the Loan HQ roadmap.

Join us if you are ready to make a meaningful contribution to a strategic transformation programme in the loan product space and help shape the future operating model for loan servicing.

What you will be responsible for

  • Take the lead for assigned Loan HQ capabilities, partnering with business, operations, technology, vendors, and client-facing teams to define and deliver product outcomes.

  • Lead and support design discussions across the loan servicing lifecycle, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, controlled, and aligned to the Loan HQ target-state platform.

  • Translate business problems and operational pain points into clear requirements, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery priorities within Agile delivery tools such as Jira.

  • Work closely with business analysts, developers, QA, operations, and subject matter experts to refine requirements, validate designs, and remove ambiguity before development.

  • Drive execution against agreed milestones, ensuring workstream deliverables are progressed in a timely, cost-effective, and risk-aware manner.

  • Support backlog management, story refinement, sprint planning, prioritisation, testing readiness, and release preparation for assigned workstreams.

  • Plan, coordinate, and support UAT and BUAT activity with QA and business teams, ensuring defects, feedback, and business sign-off are managed appropriately.

  • Partner with technology and business teams to plan production implementation, release communications, operational readiness, and adoption activities.

  • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, milestone status, and delivery timelines to senior management and programme governance forums as required.

  • Provide or coordinate loans SME input across product design, operating model change, client considerations, controls, data, reporting, and process automation.

  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce manual processing, improve transparency, strengthen controls, and enhance the user experience across Loan HQ.

What we value

These skills and behaviours will help you succeed in this role and will be important in candidate selection:

  • Strong understanding of the loans product lifecycle, including trade capture, settlement, lifecycle events, income, cash, reconciliations, reporting, controls, and downstream data needs.

  • Experience with loan servicing platforms and related applications such as WSO, Geneva, LoanHQ, Loan IQ, or comparable loan processing and accounting platforms.

  • Proven ability to operate as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or loans SME within an Agile delivery environment.

  • Ability to convert complex operational requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and delivery priorities.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance client impact, operational risk, control requirements, and delivery timelines.

  • Understanding of how service providers, investment managers, asset owners, agent banks, vendors, and internal operations teams interact across the loan ecosystem.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a larger cross-functional transformation team.

  • Confidence navigating State Street architecture, governance, access, production deployment, and technology delivery processes.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and influencing skills, including experience engaging with senior stakeholders and client-facing teams.

  • Organised, delivery-focused, and comfortable managing competing priorities, dependencies, and milestone commitments.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, technology, or a related discipline preferred.

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in loans, private credit, loan servicing, middle office, operations, product ownership, business analysis, or technology delivery.

  • Prior experience with an investment manager, loan service provider, custodian, asset servicer, or financial technology/vendor organisation is highly valued.

  • Experience working on transformation, automation, data, reporting, controls, Agile delivery, or platform modernisation initiatives is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Jira, Agile delivery practices, UAT/BUAT coordination, release management, and production implementation processes is an advantage.

Additional requirements:

  • Weekend availability will be required, on a rotating basis, to support monthly release deployments
