About Us - Cardiac Medical Unit (CMU)
The cardiac medical unit is a 35-bed department consisting of multidisciplinary teams of RNs, LPNs, nurse technicians, and ancillary staff. We work together to provide compassionate patient care for stroke and dialysis patients.
CMU serves Freeman and our community as the designated stroke floor to help maintain a Level II Stroke Accreditation.
We serve a population of hemodynamically stable neuro-medical and renal patients.

What You’ll Do
In Conjunction With The Medical Plan, Under The Direction Of A Professional Rn, Participates In The Systematic And Continual Assessment Of The Physical, Emotional, Clinical, And Psychosocial Needs Of Assigned Patients And Families; The Planning And Implementation Of Appropriate Interventions; And The Evaluation Of Effectiveness And Adjustment Of A Plan As Indicated In A Timely Manner In The Provision Of Safe And Effective Care.
Requirements
•IV Certification.
•Current Missouri Practical Nurse License Or Current Practical Nurse License From A Compact State. If A Compact License Is Held, It Must Be In The Nurse'S State Of Residence.
•If No Experience As An Rn Or Lpn In A Hospital Setting Or It Has Been More Than 5 Years Since Last Worked In A Hospital Setting, Nurses Must Successfully Pass Patient Care Orientation (Pco) Within 30 Days.
•Aha Acls Within 120 Days.
•Aha Bls For Healthcare Providers Within 90 Days.
•ASLS- Advanced Stroke Life Support Within 180 Days.
•NIH Stroke Scale Certification Within 120 Days.
•Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) Within 120 Days.
•RN Competency Day Annually By Transcript Due Date.
•Stroke CEU Hours - 8 Per Year Annually By Transcript Due Date.
