Responsibilities

A Brief OverviewProvides quality patient care when performing mammography imaging services and related procedures by applying x-ray energy to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles. The shift is 5 8 hr shifts or 4 10 hr shifts. What you will do

  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care
  • Complies with FDA and MQSA regulatory requirements
  • Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and strategic imperatives
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors, to achieve desired high-quality images for interpretation
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, patient identification, and ensures that all breast anatomy is demonstrated according to MQSA/ACR guidelines
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
  • Requires utilization of Radiology Information System to accurately show arrival and completion of exams, correct coding of procedures done, and retrieval of reports
  • Utilizes sterile technique for sterile procedures in accordance with OH policy and training. Administers medical aid as required for any emergency
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately
  • Ensures safety of all customers
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines and education requirements
  • Follows established imaging processing procedures and techniques
  • Maintains a clean organized work area
  • Maintains well stocked rooms
  • Assures customer satisfaction
  • Prioritizes workload to manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Must have and maintain CME points as mandated by MQSA
  • Valid Radiology registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required
