Job Description

The Africa WorldClimate Manager is responsible for leading the coordination and the delivery of Deloitte Africa's WorldClimate strategy, reporting, and Net-zero implementation plan. The role drives environmental sustainability initiatives across the Africa member firm, ensuring progress toward Deloitte's climate commitments through programme leadership, stakeholder engagement, environmental reporting, data governance, change management, and performance monitoring.

Working across multiple countries, functions and senior leadership teams, the role provides strategic oversight and operational coordination to enable effective implementation of sustainability initiatives, enhance environmental performance, strengthen governance and reporting processes, and support Deloitte Africa's long-term sustainability ambitions.

1. WorldClimate and Net-zero Strategy & Programme Delivery

  • Lead the implementation of Deloitte Africa's WorldClimate strategy and Net-zero programme.
  • Identify implementation risks, barriers and opportunities and develop practical, scalable solutions that support the achievement of sustainability commitments.
  • Contribute to business growth and market positioning through proposals, thought leadership and priority sustainability initiatives.
  • Drive alignment between global commitments and Africa member firm priorities, translating strategy into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor programme performance and recommend interventions and synergies to accelerate delivery, impact and business value.

2. Environmental Reporting & Governance

  • Lead environmental reporting processes across Africa, ensuring accurate, complete and audit-ready data.
  • Oversee sustainability data governance, controls, reporting requirements and assurance activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes and environmental performance management.

3. Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across Africa.
  • Facilitate collaboration across functions, countries and leadership teams to achieve sustainability objectives.
  • Influence accountability, decision-making and ownership of sustainability initiatives.

4. Sustainability Initiatives & Behaviour Change

  • Develop, coordinate and support emissions reduction and sustainability initiatives across the business.
  • Lead sustainability communications, education and engagement programmes.
  • Drive behaviour change that supports Deloitte Africa's environmental ambitions and commitments.

5. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members and project contributors.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • Build sustainability capability and knowledge across the organisation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Management, Economics, Statistics or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience leading complex programmes or projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in sustainability, environmental management, ESG, climate strategy, reporting or related disciplines.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience within professional services, consulting or a large corporate environment will be advantageous.
