The First Nation School Board (FNSB) was established in February 2022. Our main office is located in Whitehorse, Yukon, on the territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. FNSB serves and works in partnership with Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Liard First Nation, Ross River Dena Council, Champagne and Aishihik First Nation, White River First Nation, Ta'an Kwäch'än Council, Kwanlin Dün First Nation, Selkirk First Nation, Carcross/Tagish First Nation, and Kluane First Nation for the schools and Learners on their territories.
 
Our approach to instruction, programming, and operations promotes reconciliation by being grounding in Yukon First Nations values of student-centered, strengths-based, and community-led. Board-run schools are for all Yukon students.

The Manager of Instructional Leadership plays a vital role in advancing the strategic priorities of the First Nation School Board (FNSB) by supporting meaningful, system-wide improvements in teaching and learning. Grounded in FNSB’s circular model and guided by Yukon First Nation Ways, this role is built on the understanding that strong relationships, collaboration, and culturally responsive practices are essential to learner success. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager provides leadership and support to Team Leaders and coaches, ensuring educators are empowered as the key drivers of change within their classrooms and school communities.

 

Through respectful partnership with schools, Yukon First Nations, and community, the Manager of Instructional Leadership helps ensure educational initiatives are responsive to local context, values, and priorities. The role leads the implementation of evidence-informed strategies, supports professional learning and continuous improvement, and fosters a collaborative environment focused on accountability, innovation, and student success. By monitoring progress, strengthening systems of support, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals, policy, and governance, this position contributes to building an inclusive and high-quality education system grounded in reconciliation and student achievement.

Are you motivated to work on a team developing a public school system grounded in reconciliation? 

 

We seek applicants with considerable experience building strong and trusting relationships with partners while providing strategic advice and guidance. Comfort in the unknown and a desire to create new processes, paired with expertise in interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and policy will support the you to be successful in this role.  A teaching certificate and regular travel throughout the Yukon is a requirement of the position.
