Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division – Longford 

Our Longford facility plays a vital role in meeting the growing global demand for diagnostic testing across infectious disease, cancer, thyroid, and cardiovascular health.

We are currently recruiting for a Process Engineering Technician to join our team. The role will involve the following responsibilities: 

Primary Function 

  • Responsible for the handson operation and maintenance of critical plant, utilities, and equipment. 

  • Maximise availability of FUE (Facilities, Utilities & Equipment) and carry out daytoday preventative and demand maintenance activities. 

  • Support manufacturing, facilities, electrical systems, and associated processes. 

  • Ensure all critical plant services and processes are maintained to the highest standards. 

  • Oversee daily maintenance of CleaninPlace (CIP) process skids and related equipment. 

  • Liaise with internal and external engineering personnel and contract maintenance providers for troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning of equipment related to critical FUE or process equipment in manufacturing areas. 

  • Contribute to the Energy Management Programme and support initiatives to reduce energy usage and costs. 

Major Responsibilities 

  • Perform daily preventative and demand maintenance activities. 

  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors performing maintenance or breakdown services. 

  • Troubleshoot, faultfind, and maintain equipment and plant systems to ensure proper operation and service levels. 

  • Develop a strong understanding of cleanroom HVAC systems, equipment, and utilities to diagnose and resolve issues. 

  • Resolve technical problems efficiently to support operations. 

  • Ensure equipment and systems meet legal, divisional, and corporate standards. 

  • Maintain high safety standards and adhere to safe working practices. 

  • Communicate effectively with plant management, corporate teams, and divisional engineering. 

Education 

A relevant thirdlevel qualification in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline, or a recognised trade qualification with relevant experience, is required to support the responsibilities of this role with a minimum of 3years experience in a similar role. Experience working within a regulated environment would be an advantage 

Hours of Work 

4 consecutive days comprising of 2 days and 2 nights and 4 consecutive days off between shifts 

Days - 7am to 7pm 

Nights - 7pm to 7am
