About this role

GENERAL DESCRIPTION – PURPOSE OF ROLE:
A material handler must be able to work in compliance with good manufacturing practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and internal safety guidelines and training, including (But not limited to) the maneuvering and handling of all material with proper material-handling equipment

 

Essential Functions:

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Safely and efficiently move materials using various equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and conveyors.

·         Receive incoming materials, verify quantities, inspect for damage or defects, and record information in inventory systems.

·         Pick materials from designated locations according to pick lists or work orders.

·         Organize and store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper handling and storage conditions to prevent damage or deterioration.

·         Load and unload trucks, trailers, or containers using proper lifting techniques and equipment to ensure safe and secure transport of materials.

·         Adhere to safety regulations and procedures at all times to prevent accidents, injuries, or damage to equipment or materials.

·         Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping, removing debris, and disposing of waste materials properly.

·         Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate activities, report issues, and ensure timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications and Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

·         2 - 4 years related experience in a production environment

·         Trained or knowledgeable in dispensing or batch-processing manufacturing, bar coding and automated dosing systems

·         Must be able to pass the forklift certification written & practical tests. Onsite training provided

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

The successful candidate should:

·         Understand safety protocols and procedures related to material handling, including proper lifting techniques, equipment operation, and hazardous material handling.

·         Have knowledge of inventory management principles and practices, including receiving, storing, picking, and shipping materials accurately and efficiently.

·         Be familiar with various types of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, conveyor belts, and hoists, including their operation, maintenance, and safety requirements.

 

 

Education Requirements:

·         High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.  The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.

The environments range from cold and dry to hot and humid and may include work outdoors. Indoor work within the manufacturing plant is required. This environment will be noisy and may contain stimuli such as flashing lights and strong odors.
