The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Serves as a neutral facilitator and plays a critical restorative role within the Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX in Human Resources. Addresses interpersonal and policy-related concerns, following the conclusion of a PADH (Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, and Discriminatory Employment/Service Practices) investigation. Reinforces organizational standards, promotes accountability, and supports workplace stability. Assists with Title IX compliance by facilitating informal resolutions of allegations, as deemed appropriate by the Title IX Coordinator and within the parameters of governing law. Translates allegations and findings into actionable outcomes, applying professional mediation practices to resolve conflicts, reduce recurrence risks, and strengthen relationships. Ensures alignment with University policies and applicable laws and regulations, and supports employees in maintaining effective and ethical work practices following investigation outcomes. Ensures timely and appropriate informal resolutions for involved parties in Title IX cases.

Essential Functions:

  • Designs and facilitates structured mediation dialogue sessions and intervention practices following completion of PADH or HR investigations. Resolves Title IX allegations through an informal resolution process, as approved by the Title IX Coordinator. Supports reintegration planning consistent with allegations, investigative findings, and corrective actions. Reinforces behavioral expectations and policy standards. Conducts structured follow-up check-ins to mitigate retaliation and risk of recurrence, as appropriate. Ensures mediation efforts do not undermine investigation outcomes.
  • Assesses workplace conflicts and, in collaboration with HR operations and Alternative Resolutions leadership, determines appropriate mediation or alternative resolution approaches. Identifies risk factors, power dynamics, and escalation indicators. Recommends when matters may require referral to other HR processes.
  • Supports the stabilization of working relationships following HR review processes. Reinforces behavioral expectations and professional standards. Conducts follow-up conversations to reduce the risk of recurrence and retaliation. Provides structured guidance to supervisors managing complex team dynamics.
  • Provides conflict coaching, individual guidance, and tailored training or micro-interventions to affected staff, supervisors, or teams to strengthen communication and resolution skills. Offers guidance on navigating sensitive workplace situations. Promotes proactive conflict management practices.
  • Maintains confidential mediation records consistent with University policy and legal requirements. Track themes and trends to inform prevention and organizational improvement efforts. Contributes to periodic reporting on alternative resolution activities in PADH matters.
  • Supports the development of tools, resources, and educational materials related to workplace mediation. Contributes to the continuous improvement of alternative resolution practices across the organization.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s  degree (or equivalent experience) in Conflict Resolution, Organizational Behavior, Psychology, Human Resources, Social Work, Law, or related field and 5 years of progressive experience in mediation, restorative practices, conflict resolution, organizational development, or employee relations (ideally in academic or institutional settings) required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in post-investigation or post-conflict reconciliation in workplaces, knowledge of harassment/discrimination investigations, or familiarity with higher education systems preferred.
  • Experience with metrics, trends, data reporting, and process evaluation preferred.
  • Prior experience in higher education or in compliance , EEO, and/or Title IX contexts preferred.

  • Ability to facilitate difficult, emotionally charged conversations with neutrality required.
  • Capacity to design and monitor behavior agreements and follow-up plans required.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and trauma awareness required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, juggle multiple cases, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion required.
  • Policy literacy: knowledge of nondiscrimination, harassment, retaliation, and internal investigation frameworks required.
  • Familiarity with group systems, organizational change, or team healing practices preferred.


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification or completion of formal training in mediation or restorative justice required.
