Position Summary:
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments, and returning emails to ensure compassionate patient care.
Primary Responsibilities
β’ Answer, scribe, and transfer incoming communication and inquiries by phone and email
β’ Respond and comply with requests for information
β’ Schedule, confirm, and maintain timely appoints of patients via phone, online, and patient portal
β’ Verify insurance information and verify co-pays, deductibles, and balances
β’ Inform patients of medical office policies and procedures
β’ Virtual back-office support with chart prep, insurance verification, and pre-authorizations, as needed
β’ Respond to incoming medical record requests
β’ Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
β’ Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
β Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses preferred
β Understand general administrative processes
β Ability to multitaskΒ within a high-functioning, fast-paced, multidisciplinary medical center
β Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred
β Knowledge of EMR preferred
β Individual must be skilled in verbal and written communication skills, able to read from a script
β Able to develop good customer relationships to achieve customer satisfaction
β Ability to self-manage and be productive with minimal supervision
β Project management
β Attention to detail
β Cheerful attitude
Qualifications:
β High School Diploma required
β 1-2 years experience in a medical clinic
