Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Listening to the recorded dictation of physicians and other healthcare professionals.

·         Using specialized transcription equipment such as headsets and foot pedals.

·         Editing and correcting medical dictation performed by speech recognition software.

·         Converting transcribed diagnostic test results, procedures, and consultation notes into applicable report formats.

·         Ensuring uncompromised patient care by transcribing fast and accurately, as well as performing thorough editing.

·         Typing out the full forms of medical abbreviations and acronyms, as well as the formal versions of medical jargon.

·         Identifying and following up on inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a transcribed report.

·         Submitting transcriptions to healthcare professionals for their approval in a timely manner.

·         Performing additional task such as following up and revising patient history, as well as entering medical reports into electronic health records

·         Protecting patient confidentiality and adhering to legal requirements.

·         Must maintain training/ continuing education requirements.

·         Ability to function in fast paced work environment with expectations for fast and responsive answers/solutions/actions.

·         Must adhere to company policies and procedures and safety guidelines.

·         Proficiency in Electronic Health Record systems.

·         Ability to transcribe accurately and maintain a minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute.

·         In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and jargon, as well as editing practice.

·         Must have reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, squat, bend, and twist frequently.

Education and Experience:

·         High School Diploma Required; Associates Degree or Higher Preferred Education.

·         3-5 years of experience as a medical transcriptionist, or similar.

·         Experience with specialized transcription equipment and voice recognition software.

·         Valid Drivers License.

Part-Time Benefits

  • Uniform Allowance The Company will provide uniforms allowance of $82.50
  • PTO *8.5 days of paid time off per year (prorated to hire date); available after 90 days *Additional days for time in position Paid Holidays
  • 6 per year Personal Time
  • 12 hours unpaid time per six-month period, not to exceed 3 hours per request Bereavement Leave *1-5 days paid, depending on relationship to deceased Employee Assistance Program *
