As part of the continued development of a new specialist neurological service in Leicester, we are establishing a dedicated multidisciplinary therapy team and are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to play a key role in its success.

The Opportunity

Working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan and deliver rehabilitation and maintenance programmes for residents with a range of neurological and progressive conditions. You will support residents to maximise their independence, participation and functional abilities while contributing to person-centred care planning and goal setting.

This role also offers the opportunity to supervise Therapy Assistants, Therapy Technicians and students, while benefiting from excellent training and continuing professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions within a specialist neurological setting.
  • Develop and implement individualised rehabilitation and maintenance programmes.
  • Support residents with acquired brain injuries, complex neurological conditions and progressive neurological disorders.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Nursing and Care Teams.
  • Assess and recommend adaptive equipment, environmental modifications and functional support strategies.
  • Contribute to resident-centred goal setting, care planning and outcome measurement.
  • Support residents with tracheostomy care requirements where appropriate.
  • Supervise and support Therapy Assistants, Technicians and students.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with HCPC standards and best practice.
  • Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience working within neurological settings, including:
    • Neurorehabilitation
    • Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
    • Complex neurological conditions
    • Progressive neurological disorders
  • Previous experience delivering rehabilitation programmes.
  • Experience supporting individuals with tracheostomy care needs.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning and organisational skills.
  • A compassionate, person-centred approach to care.
