Context
The MEPF BIM Lead is responsible for overseeing the development and integrity of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Firefighting (MEPF) models and design drawings across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with BIM standards and design intent. The role includes leading a team of BIM modelers, coordinating with engineers and stakeholders, enforcing quality control procedures, and managing deliverables to support efficient project execution.
Missions/Main Duties
QUALITY CONTROL
- Performs review of own discipline drawings and ensures that the drawing package is as per project requirement (CAD Management Plan and/or Revit Management Plan and/or BIM Management Plan) before submitting for next level review. Including implementation and enforcement of BIM standards and protocols across all MEPF disciplines.
- Implements and enforces quality control processes to ensure that the models and drawings adhere to relevant industry standards, guidelines and regulations.
- Conduct thorough checks on models and drawings for accuracy, clashes, and adherence to design specifications.
DRAFTING / DRAWINGS / MODEL PRODUCTION
- Lead production of comprehensive 2D & 3D MEPF models integrating all disciplines.
- Coordinate with structural, architectural, and other engineering teams to ensure design integration.
- Produce detailed MEPF Design drawings and shop drawings (as required) from BIM models.
- Leads a team of drafters and modelers; allocates resources and assign tasks to team members to ensure adequate drafting support within the MEPF team.
- Prepares an activity plan for each project deliverable to ensure that outputs are as per applicable standards, codes, specifications.
- Refines and ensures the precision and coherence of the produced drawings. Ensure consistency between 2D documentation and 3D models.
- Maintain an accurate library of reusable BIM components and templates.
PROJECT COORDINATION/ MANAGEMENT
- Lead coordination meetings with design engineers, relevant project stakeholders, and project management teams.
- Track and resolve clashes in collaboration with design team (MEPF, Architectural, & Structural).
- Acts as the primary internal point of contact of the team to other disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Civil Design, Alignment) as regards to the BIM and Revit. This involves understanding the project’s requirements.
- Provides regular updates on project progress and addresses any concerns or inquiries that may arise.
- Oversees and communicates to the team the projects’ timeline, team task, the allocated resource per task, and the required resources to ensure timely completion and acceptability of the outputs to the clients.
- Promotes problem resolution by managing internal conflicts and issues related to the projects plans, drawings and design. Escalates to MEPF Team Leader and/or MEPF Manager complex issues requiring Management intervention.
- Provides documentation on drawing list and team progress/status reports as required.
- Performs other tasks as assigned from time to time upon receiving clear instructions from the MEPF Manager or MEPF BIM Coordinator.
PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
- Guide MEPF BIM modelers in best practices, modeling techniques, and software use.
- Facilitate training sessions to enhance team's skills in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
- Whenever necessary, extends technical support and/or facilitates learning sessions on BIM tools and processes to select personnel.
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.
Profile/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (MEPF specialization preferred).PRC license is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in BIM modeling for MEPF systems, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of delivering complex MEPF designs using BIM AND Revit
