Job Description
The Instructional Designer leads the development and quality assurance of online, blended, and HyFlex courses at Minneapolis College. Collaborating closely with faculty, this role supports course conversion and design to promote quality, equity, and accessibility. As a key liaison between Academic Affairs and other campus divisions (CTL, ARC, & CATT) the Instructional Designer guides the use of instructional technology and learner-centered practices. The role provides direct support to faculty through drop-in support, individual consultation, and trainings/workshops, focused on culturally responsive pedagogy, ADA compliance, and effective integration of educational technologies.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Lead the expansion of online and blended degrees and courses and work to ensure quality and consistency of online, blended, and hyflex courses.
Work directly with Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Affairs to gather and analyze data related to eLearning.
Provide instructional design and LMS support to faculty that includes best practices in pedagogy
Work directly with CTL and the Campus Academic Technology Team (CATT) to set institutional goals and design and deliver training for faculty.
Salary Range:
MnSCU Academic Professional 3: $28.75 - $42.16 hourly / $60,030 - $88,030 annually
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of related work experience in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
Online course design and development experience in a not-for-profit higher education setting.
Experience with pedagogy related to culturally responsive course design.
Experience with a variety of instructional technologies including learning management systems, web conferencing, collaboration, and lecture capture.
Experience developing and delivering training sessions, both face-to-face and online.
Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
Preferred Qualification
Master’s degree.
Ability to conduct reviews of existing blended/online courses using Quality Matters rubric or another assessment tool. Completion of Quality Matters or other similar certification.
Experience designing instructional materials and media that meet ADA/accessibility standards.
Teaching experience in a higher education setting, delivering courses in an online modality, and working with the D2L learning management system.
Other Requirement
Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
Work Shift
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Telework
This position may be eligible for partial telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.
