ABOUT US

We’re the world’s leading provider of secure financial messaging services, headquartered in Belgium. We are the way the world moves value – across borders, through cities and overseas. No other organisation can address the scale, precision, pace and trust that this demands, and we’re proud to support the global economy.

We’re unique too. We were established to find a better way for the global financial community to move value – a reliable, safe and secure approach that the community can trust, completely. We’re always striving to be better and are constantly evolving in an ever-changing landscape, without undermining that trust. Five decades on, our vibrant community reflects the complexity and diversity of the financial ecosystem. We innovate diligently, test exhaustively, then implement fast. In a connected and exciting era, our mission has never been more relevant. Swift now has a presence in 200+ countries and legal territories to serve a community of more than 12,000 banks and financial institutions.

At Swift, security is fundamental to everything we do. As technology and cyber threats continue to evolve, we continue to modernize our security architecture to strengthen resilience, reduce risk, and support the future needs of our business and community. The decisions we make today will help define how Swift protects its infrastructure and services in the years ahead.

We are looking for a manager to lead our Network Security Engineering team and help shape the future of network security at Swift. You will lead a group of highly skilled engineers responsible for protecting Swift's global network infrastructure and advancing modern security capabilities such as Zero Trust, SASE/SSE, attack surface reduction, and security architecture modernization. You will help define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for network security while fostering a culture of security excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

This is an opportunity to influence enterprise-wide security strategy, shape the future of network security at Swift, and lead a talented team that helps strengthen the security and resilience of infrastructure supporting the global financial ecosystem.

Position Summary

As the Network Security Engineering Manager, you will bridge the gap between security strategy and execution. You will lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of network security engineers while aligning security capabilities with business objectives. You will oversee strategic vendor partnerships, manage budgets, and drive the evolution of modern network security capabilities, including Zero Trust, SASE/SSE, and attack surface reduction initiatives.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Empower and Lead: Build, mentor, and inspire a world-class team of network security engineers. Foster a culture of continuous learning, growth, and psychological safety.
  • Attack Surface Management: Proactively identify, analyze, and eliminate potential entry points for attackers. Drive initiatives to keep our corporate, cloud, and edge attack surfaces as minimal and hardened as possible.
  • Shape the Future: Define the technical roadmap for our network security capabilities, driving our transition toward modern architectures.
  • Drive SASE/SSE Innovation: Lead the strategy and deployment of SASE/SSE frameworks (including SD-WAN, SWG, CASB, and ZTNA) to seamlessly secure our global, remote workforce while reducing infrastructure exposure.
  • Secure & Comply: Partner with internal and external audit teams to ensure network compliance with frameworks like ISO 27001 or PCI-DSS.
  • Manage Resources: Evaluate and manage cutting-edge tool vendors, ensuring our team has the best-in-class resources while optimizing the security budget.
  • Collaborate and Champion: Act as a key bridge between technical teams (DevOps, Infrastructure) and executive stakeholders, translating complex risks into business insights.

What You Bring (Required Qualifications)

  • The Experience: 6+ years of experience across network engineering, network security, cybersecurity, or related infrastructure security disciplines, with a demonstrated track record of leading people and complex technical initiatives, driving cross-functional collaboration, and influencing technical direction.
  • Modern Tech Vision: A deep understanding of Next-Gen Firewalls, SIEM platforms, and modern identity systems.
  • SASE/SSE Expertise: Proven experience in the architectural oversight, deployment, or management of SASE/SSE frameworks to secure networks and remote users.
  • Defense-in-Depth Mindset: Practical experience with vulnerability management, network hardening, and proven methodologies for minimizing digital footprint exposure.
  • Leadership Mindset: Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives, influence stakeholders, drive strategic outcomes, and build high-performing teams through mentorship, collaboration, and technical leadership.
  • Exceptional Communication: The ability to explain complex security threats and risk mitigation strategies cleanly to non-technical business leaders.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, Computer Science, IT Management, or equivalent practical industry leadership experience.

Bonus Points (Preferred Certifications)

  • Security Management: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or CISSP
  • Methodology: Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile/Scrum certifications
  • Technical Excellence: Advanced vendor or cloud security certifications (e.g., Palo Alto PCNSC, Cisco CCIE Security, AWS Certified Security, or specialized SASE/SSE vendor certs)
