Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be a specialized healthcare professional, vital in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services through the precise application of radionuclides.Every day, you will expertly perform Nuclear Medicine procedures, utilizing radionuclides to produce high-quality images and data for licensed practitioners. You'll ensure appropriate patient care, recognize conditions essential for successful procedures, administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate equipment, and adhere to strict radiation safety.To be successful in this role you must

  • Demand current certification, advanced technical expertise, and an exceptional eye for detail, coupled with a thorough understanding of radiation safety. Your compassionate patient care and dedication to precise imaging will be essential.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with department standards, and in keeping with the orders of the referring physician.
  • Operate all nuclear medicine equipment, survey meters, counters, and computers
  • Prepare and calibrates radioactive tracer compounds for patient use.
  • Demonstrate appropriate administering and monitoring of radioisotopes per hospital guidelines and standards.
  • Perform quality control tests, assists in equipment calibration and radioisotope assay operations.
  • Maintain records of radioisotopes received, used, stored and disposed, in accordance with local State and Federal regulations regarding the accountability for radioactive materials. Maintains records of exposure, monitoring, surveys, and wipes
  • Troubleshoot the equipment and cooperates with service personnel to bring down time to a minimum
  • Responsible for initiating service calls on all equipment assigned to the area as needed.
  • Demonstrate competency in film processing procedures.
  • Use sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.
  • Identify and initiate accurate assessment of life-threatening conditions.
  • Respond to changes in work schedule and STAT exams, and demonstrates reliability.
  • Comply with the Timeliness and Attendance Policy regarding punctuality and consistent work attendance.

  • Interview patients for pertinent medical history and obtains consents on patients prior to performing studies as required

Job Requirements

Required

  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days

Preferred

  • less than 1 year Six (6) months previous experience as anuclear medicine technologist, upon hire
