Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities.Every day, you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients.To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.
Responsibilities:
- Appropriately assesses patients of varying diagnoses & disorders requiring Occupational Therapy according to established guidelines. Age range treated includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, & geriatric. Staff will be assigned only to age ranges for which they meet the education, experience & training requirements.
- Patients from 0-21 years of age with CCS insurance will either be seen or have oversight by a CCS panelled therapist.
- Establishes functional goals in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team based on the patient's rehabilitation potential.
- Develops, implements & modifies treatment plan in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to achieve established goals. Utilizes evidence-based practice as available. Incorporates patient/family/Care Partner needs, interests, & goals in the development & execution of the treatment plan.
- Provides patient/family/Care Partner/caregiver education, initiating as soon as feasible after admission. Works to ensure transfer of knowledge using a variety of techniques (i.e., teach back, demonstration, video, written handouts).
- Establishes & follows patient precautions. Observe patient responses to treatment & reports unusual occurrences. Follows hand-off guidelines.
Job Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's Graduate of an approved school of Occupational Therapy. Academic curriculum will include coursework on growth & development, gerontology & therapeutic procedures for pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric populations required.
- New applicants must present documentation of continuing education or experience. Upon annual appraisal must demonstrate participation in external continuing education required.
- CA Occupational Therapist License (CA OTL) required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support Cert (AHA BLS) required.
- Fire Safety card (within 90 Days from Start Date) required.
