Position Summary
The Oculoplastics Assistant position allows you to work daily while providing direct hands-on care to our patients and physicians. Our clinical staff report high levels of satisfaction with their roles at Central Florida Eye Specialists because they get to play a vital role in helping save peoples sight each and every day. Though the days may be long and busy, we find the results to be well worth the effort.Â
Responsibilities
This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

Position Responsibilities:Â
- History takingÂ
- Taking Patient PhotosÂ
- Preparing Injectables such as Botox, Kenalog, and Local Anesthesia.Â
- Vision and Visual field testingÂ
- Prepare for and assist with in-office proceduresÂ
- Assisting in Cosmetic ProceduresÂ
- Scribing for patient exams alongside Physicians and Physician’s AssociateÂ
Performed other duties as assigned:Â
- Aid in organizing and attending seasonal Cosmetic Events Â
- Self-Motivated and Efficient Â
- Ability to pay attention to detailÂ
- Ability to maintain confidentialityÂ

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Â
- Medical work experience NOT required, but it can increase your starting rateÂ
- Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamworkÂ
- Strong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)Â
- Able to work long and irregular hours, and travel to Deland, Orange City, and Lake Mary based on clinic needsÂ
- Ability to master Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic terminologyÂ
- Required to have reliable transportation between local clinics during the workday (mileage is reimbursed)Â
- High School GraduateÂ
Preferred Qualifications:Â
- Experience in a Scribing, Optometry/Ophthalmology and/or OculoplasticsÂ
- Surgical Assisting or MA certificationÂ
- Bilingual in SpanishÂ
Physical Demands:Â
- Ability to view patient images and operate computer devicesÂ
- Ability to converse with patients - speaking and hearingÂ
- Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouseÂ
- Near constant standing and walkingÂ
- Manual dexterity to operate ophthalmic equipmentÂ
Other Position Details:Â
- Schedule varies depending on assigned role and/or assigned physicianÂ
- Monday to Friday scheduleÂ
- Uniform/Scrub allowance of $200Â
