Job Description:

The Oregon Department of Justice, Trial Division is seeking to hire an Office Specialist 1 for the Portland Legal Office. The Trial Division defends the State of Oregon and all its agencies, departments, boards, commissions, and district attorney's offices before the state and federal trial courts in Oregon.  If you are looking for a challenging opportunity with day-to-day variety, this may be the position for you.  We offer generous benefits for you and your family, a great work-life balance, and a strong public service mission you can get behind. Due to the nature of this position, the required work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with an hour scheduled for lunch. The position is full-time in office.

Job Duties (in part)

  • Responsible for processing incoming and outgoing mail (physical and electronic), including reviewing documents for typographical errors, accuracy, and completeness.

  • Prepares binders for attorneys to take to trial including printing the requested documents, ensuring all documents are in correct order and labeled tabs are provided if requested.

  • Prepare files for archive, including, but not limited to entering data into case management system, maintaining record of files, and transportation of files.

  • Make scheduled and unscheduled messenger runs in and out of the agency.

  • Open and close files using division guidelines.

  • Enter data into computerized case management systems and file documents. 

  • Collect data for case management docket control and distribute numerous dockets. 

Required Experience

  • One year of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of experience and college coursework or training in a general office occupation.

AND

  • Must have and maintain a valid Oregon Driver’s License.
