Specialist Veterinary Oncology Nurse | VRH DandenongÂ
VRH Dandenong is delighted to announce the reopening of our Oncology Department and invites experienced Veterinary Nurses to join our dedicated specialist team!
VRH is a leading, multi-disciplinary specialist referral and emergency hospital providing advanced care across Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Anaesthesia and Oncology. Collaboration is at the heart of our practice, with closely integrated teams working together to deliver exceptional outcomes for patients and their families.Â
The RoleÂ
Our purpose-built Oncology Ward is ready to recommence services. The department will initially consist of one Specialist Oncologist supported by a highly skilled nursing team equivalent to two full-time positions.Â
As a Veterinary Oncology Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting oncology consultations, caring for hospitalised patients, and assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You will be exposed to a diverse and rewarding caseload, including a high referral volume from our Emergency and Critical Care service.Â
You will work in a highly advanced clinical setting, with access to state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic imaging facilities including MRI, CT, Endoscopy, Fluoroscopy and Ultrasound. Close collaboration with other specialty departments will enable delivery of tailored, patient-focused treatment plans.Â
This position is available on a full-time or part-time basis. Experienced nurses from other specialties with a strong interest in Oncology, are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Deliver exceptional, compassionate care to patients and clientsÂ
- Coordinate daily patient care, schedules and workflowsÂ
- Provide nursing care to hospitalised and post-procedure patientsÂ
- Prepare for, assist with and monitor diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresÂ
- Safely prepare, administer and handle cytotoxic medicationsÂ
- Assist with anaesthesia planning and patient monitoringÂ
- Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic clinical environmentÂ
- Support oncology consultations, treatments and structured patient handoversÂ
About YouÂ
- Certificate IV or Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)Â
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a veterinary nurseÂ
- Strong technical nursing skills, including anaesthesia monitoringÂ
- Thorough medication knowledge with strong attention to detailÂ
- Calm, adaptable and professional in high-pressure clinical settingsÂ
- Excellent communication and teamwork skillsÂ
- A genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient careÂ
- Experience with RxWorks and Smartflow is desirable but not essential
