About this role

Icarus was founded on the belief that the Stratosphere is the Forgotten Frontier and that reclaiming it will define the next era of aerospace and what is possible from the sky. We build solar-powered aircraft that fly at 60,000 ft for weeks at a time, delivering persistent, affordable, and scalable presence from this layer of the atmosphere.

Mission

Re-establish and maintain dominance in the Stratosphere.

What you’ll do

  • Run daily shipping and receiving: inspect, receive, and put away incoming material; pack, label, and ship outbound freight, including time-critical parts to test sites and deployments.
  • Perform inventory transactions in our manufacturing system (ION Factory OS): receive parts, issue kits to production, and support weekly cycle counts to keep stock accuracy high.
  • Handle and prepare regulated shipments — lithium batteries, compressed gas, and other dangerous goods — in compliance with 49 CFR and IATA regulations.
  • Pick up and deliver parts, equipment, and materials using company vehicles; coordinate local courier and freight carrier pickups.
  • Support field deployments and demos: build pack-out lists, crate and load equipment, and occasionally travel to support load-in/load-out at test ranges and customer events.
  • Support procurement workflows: vendor coordination, PO receiving and tracking, and chasing down late or missing deliveries.
  • Keep the warehouse, stockroom, and shop support areas organized, labeled, and safe.
  • Support facilities and office operations across both buildings — vendor coordination, event setup, and the day-to-day tasks that keep a fast-moving startup running.

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in logistics, warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, military supply/motor transport, or a related field.
  • Comfortable with physical work: able to lift 50 lbs, be on your feet most of the day, and safely operate pallet jacks (forklift certification a plus — or we'll get you certified).
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; comfortable driving vans and box trucks for local runs.
  • Experience with inventory or ERP/MES systems (ION, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) — or the aptitude to learn one fast.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to run your own day with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail — part numbers, quantities, and paperwork matter here.
  • Hands-on experience shipping dangerous goods (lithium batteries, compressed gas, or similar) under 49 CFR/IATA; current or prior DG certification required.
  • Willing to travel as needed to support deployments and demos.

This is not a normal ops job

  1. We are pioneers, not corporate managers. Icarus deliberately optimizes for a high signal (engineers) to noise (management) ratio, where engineering, flight, and execution matter more than process, politics, or management overhead.
  2. You will work alongside the CEO and a small team of world-class builders, keeping the operation that builds and flies real aircraft running every day.
  3. We expect full extreme ownership. This is a high-trust, no-BS team, and everyone pulls their weight.
  4. We want operators, not bureaucrats. No process for process's sake. No fluff. No sitting in meetings all day. Just real work that keeps real engineers moving.
  5. You must be reliable, move fast, and take pride in keeping the company running cleanly.
  6. We move fast. We expect results and an obsession with quality and speed.

No tourists. No bystanders. Only builders.
