The ComTran Group is hiring a Fiber Technician to support our Repair & Maintenance (R&M) and Splicing team. This is a 100% local role, allowing you to be home every night while building valuable skills in a high‑demand, future‑proof industry.

What You'll Do

Fiber Installation

  • Run fiber from the street to the customer’s home
  • Drill, route, and secure fiber inside homes
  • Install wall entry points and fiber enclosures

Splicing & Termination

  • Terminate fiber at network connection points
  • Perform fusion splicing and connector installs
  • Prepare, label, and manage fiber cables

Testing & Troubleshooting

  • Use industry tools such as:
    • Optical Power Meter
    • OTDR
    • Visual Fault Locator
  • Test signal strength and continuity
  • Troubleshoot service issues from the street to customer equipment

Field & Construction Work

  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
  • Climb ladders, poles, and access utility areas
  • Always follow safety standards and procedures

Customer Interaction

  • Explain installations and repairs clearly and professionally
  • Assist customers with Wi‑Fi connections
  • Confirm services are fully operational before leaving
  • Treat each customer’s home and property with care

 

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Fast-paced, hands-on role
  • Physical outdoor work in heat, cold, or rain
  • On-call rotation every 7–9 weeks (rare after-hours calls)
  • One weekend every 4–5 weeks
