Position Summary: 

This position includes, but is not limited to, the setup, tear-down, and cleaning of the slicer operator machine in the Deli Packaging area.  

Responsibilities: 

• Document slicing characteristics, downtime, process checks, and quality checks.   

• Set up, tear down, load and operate the slicers while maximizing speed, slicing yield, and the percent of acceptable drafts being sliced.   

• Perform operator care procedures to keep the slicer running. 

• Change and trim the slicer orifice, routine cleaning of the slicer and blade, change blades, and perform slicer washdowns, and other related tasks.   

• Reweigh rejected drafts and work them back into the line keeping giveaway to a minimum.   

• Ability and willingness to perform basic math functions (i.e.:  addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). 

• Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. 

• Ability and willingness to scan or input into the computer system all product film, boxes, casings, clips, and ingredients for all daily product runs, including change overs. 

• Ability and willingness to follow formulations on computer and accurate record and report food safety or product information. 

• Perform general housekeeping duties in the department. 

• Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF requirements.  

• Perform all positions of job rotation as needed. 

• Perform any other work as assigned by management.  

Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

• Ability and willingness to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level 20 pounds or greater frequently. 

• Ability and willingness to lift/lower/carry 20 pounds or greater with back and legs. 

• Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with rapid hand and eye coordination to move product on a conveyor and/or other processing equipment.  

• Ability and willingness to flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently. 

• Ability and willingness to stand/walk/climb/bend for up to 10 hours. 

• Ability and willingness to work with product that is less than 32 degrees. 

• Ability and willingness to work in wet conditions and cold temperatures at 35 degrees.
