Syngenta’s Production & Supply Team is seeking a Parent Seed Intern in Slater, IA. This internship role will actively learn all aspects of field production for seed corn, as well as provide background support through data analysis for gains in efficiency and accuracy. 

As part of Syngenta's Emerging Talent Program, you will gain hands-on experience, exposure to day-to-day business operations, and opportunities to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges while developing your professional skills. 

Accountabilities:

  • Assist with planting and post-planting data collection.
  • Monitor the quality of production.
  • Assist the data collection team during peak note-taking periods.
  • Scout seed fields for readiness and pests.
  • Take ownership of Argentina production communications.

Qualifications

Acceptable Majors:

  • Agricultural Sciences, Biology, or closely related fields.

Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented and drive attention to accuracy.

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

  • Experience working with cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics and lean manufacturing processes.

Critical Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with MS Office, especially Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and other standard software.
  • Ability to learn and utilize proprietary IT systems.

Critical Experience

  • History of implementing continuous improvements and new innovations.
  • Understanding of seed corn production or general crop production.

Critical Technical, Professional, and Personal Capabilities

  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies.
  • Role model Syngenta’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and product stewardship.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively function as a team member in cross-functional activities.

Additional Information

Salary for this position ranges between $20 - $45 hourly.
