About the Part-Time Audio Supervisor (AS) Role:

The Audio Supervisor (AS) provides department-level audio leadership for larger, more complex, or audio-intensive public programs, rentals, performances, and special events at BRIC. The AS is responsible for translating production needs into an executable audio plan, coordinating audio crew and visiting teams, and overseeing the readiness, safe operation, and restoration of BRIC's audio systems.

Audio Supervisors partner closely with Associate Director, Production, Production Managers, Production Supervisors, and Lead Producers and may supervise A1s, A2s, and additional crew. The AS will be chief engineer as well as focus on system planning, crew coordination, troubleshooting, and maintaining BRIC's audio standards.



What You'll Do in the Role:

  • Serving as the lead audio representative for assigned complex events and coordinating audio needs from advance through strike
  • Manage and perform ongoing maintenance as needed 
  • Reviewing technical riders, stage plots, input lists, RF needs, playback requirements, patch plans, and staffing needs with Production staff
  • Developing event-specific audio plans and assigning responsibilities to A1s, A2s, and other audio crew
  • Supervising audio load-in, system checkout, line check, soundcheck, show operations, and strike to ensure work is safe, efficient, and show-ready
  • Acting as the escalation point for system, signal-flow, console, networked-audio, RF, monitor, and stage-patch troubleshooting
  • Coordinating with visiting artists and engineers to integrate touring equipment, media captures and workflows with BRIC's systems
  • Maintaining clear communication with Production Managers and Lead Producers about technical risks, changes, equipment needs, and show readiness
  • Supporting consistent system configuration, equipment care, post-event restoration, and clear handoff of system issues or event notes to Production staff.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and recommend improvements in Dante signal routing and audio patching between venues /spaces



Qualifications & Skills:

  • Substantial professional experience in live audio, including prior work as an A1 and experience leading audio teams or departments
  • Advanced knowledge of digital mixing consoles, system signal flow, gain structure, loudspeaker systems, stage patching, monitors, playback, microphones, and RF systems
  • Strong working knowledge of networked audio, including Dante or comparable protocols, and the ability to diagnose routing, clocking, and connectivity issues
  • Ability to interpret technical riders and develop practical audio plans, patching workflows, equipment lists, and crew assignments
  • Experience integrating visiting/touring audio packages with house systems and collaborating with guest engineers
  • Strong leadership, delegation, communication, and troubleshooting skills in high-pressure live environments
  • Dante Level II Certification

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $55.
  • Status and location: This is a part-time, as needed, role based in our Brooklyn office, roughly 2-5 events a month, and roughly 1-2 days of general maintenance monthly. Regular nights and weekend hours are required. Candidates must reside in the NYC area.
