PRIMARY PURPOSE  

 

The Banquet Server shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.   

 

This position interacts with our guests and ensures they have a great experience when dining at the Glen. Banquet Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. Banquet Servers will follow through with the proper and timely set-up and execution of banquet events. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

 

Serving Responsibilities – 95% 

  • Maintain positive and professional attitude 

  • Gather menu information for each function served, in order to appropriately provide signage and explanation to guests 

  • Be aware of the details on the Banquet Event order, including special diets 

  • Set up for events by placing tablecloths, place settings, and other table items along with setting up buffet when requested 

  • Carrying plates of food on trays and serving guests 

  • Complete the inspection of meeting rooms prior to guest arrival ensuring that client specifications have been met 

  • Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to upper management 

  • Notifies supervisor and/or security of all unusual events, circumstances, or missing items 

  • Maintain proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, 

  • Removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses 

  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the Conference Center 

  • Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guest to Supervisor 

  • Clean up venue after event ends and assist with closeout tasks 

  • Handle money and credit cards

Additional Responsibilities – 5% 

  • Participate in daily devotions, department meetings, Glen Eyrie-wide gatherings, and training seminars. 

  • Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required. 

  • Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system. 

  • Must adhere to the handbooks from both the Navigators and Glen Eyrie at all times 

  • Other job-related duties as assigned, including but not limited to, taking the lead position for specific functions, obtaining BEOs, assisting with inventory, and training new staff.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

 

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.   

 

Experience: Previous waitstaff experience. Knowledge of catering practices preferred. 

 

Technical Knowledge & Skills: Basic computer skills. 

 

Communication: Excellent verbal communication and listening skills. 

 

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. 

Compensation: $16.35 hourly
