Job description

We are looking for a Plant Operator to efficiently carry out all operational duties surrounding the operation of the Hull facility, with particular focus on the oil collections and packaged waste storage and handling. Ensuring all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner whilst promoting the Slicker workplace values. We are Smart, Honest and Reliable, working Together whilst having Fun.


Main Tasks & Responsibilities 

  • Working with the Site Manager, plan and undertake operational tasks on the site including the receipt, testing, offloading, storage, treatment and recording of various wastes including oil and packages wastes.
  • Transfer liquid product through various processes, using mechanical pumps and vehicle pumps.
  • Ensure the operations are compliant with the various site operating procedures, permits and authorisations.
  • Sort incoming dry waste from various receptacles including bins, drums and IBCs.
  • Ensure that wastes are only stored in the correct areas and in accordance with site operational procedures and permitted activities.
  • Safely take samples from incoming loads and tanks.
  • Monitor tank levels by computer and manual means. Record all data in site diary.
  • To complete all paperwork in accordance with company processes and legal requirements.
  • All operational and storage areas to be kept clean and tidy. Good Housekeeping to be practised at all times.
  • Maintaining consistently high standards of health and safety at all times.
  • Ensuring clear communication with drivers and visitors to the site.
  • Movement of waste from vehicles via forklift truck.
  • Using initiative to identify jobs when which require action.
  • Working as part of a team and demonstrating a positive attitude.
  • Assist in the laboratory when required to carry out analysis on incoming loads and tanks.
  • Flexibility to work overtime if/ when required.
  • To work with other colleagues at Hull and within the wider Slicker group to aid the smooth operation of the site.

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Qualifications / Certificates / Education:
    • Forklift licence essential
    • Driving licence essential.
    Skills:
    • Good standard of communication, literacy and numeracy.
    • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Have basic computer skills.
    • Performs a high quality of work and applies attention to detail
     Experience:
    • Process operator experience preferably in the Waste Management, Chemical or Petrochemical Industry.
    • Working in a physically demanding role, undertaking various tasks in all weather conditions.
