About this role

Podiatrist — Mandurah, WA Private practice role in one of WA's most liveable coastal cities

An established private practice is looking for a Podiatrist to join its team on a permanent basis, full-time or part-time. It's a well-regarded clinic with a loyal patient base, strong local referral relationships, and the kind of clinical variety the local demographics almost guarantee. If you're a podiatrist who's been quietly thinking about a change — either from a metro grind or from a role that's stopped growing — this is worth a read.

The area sits about an hour south of Perth, on the coast, and it's changed considerably over the last fifteen years. What used to be a summer holiday town for Perth families is now a proper regional city — the fastest-growing outside metro Perth for most of the last decade, with a permanent population approaching 100,000 and infrastructure that's caught up faster than most people realise.

The train line runs straight to the CBD in around fifty minutes. Peel Health Campus anchors the local health sector. Murdoch and Notre Dame both have teaching links locally. The Dawesville Cut, the estuary, and the canals mean a lot of clinicians who move here end up with a boat within eighteen months — it's that kind of place.

What the caseload looks like

The local demographic profile is a genuine selling point for a clinician who wants clinical depth:

  • A significantly older-than-average population, which means a strong flow of general, preventive, and age-related podiatry work
  • One of WA's higher diabetes prevalence rates, which translates to real high-risk foot and vascular caseload
  • A growing family demographic in the surrounding suburbs, so paediatric, gait, and MSK presentations sit alongside the older-adult work
  • An active retiree culture — golf, walking, fishing, boating — which drives ongoing MSK and biomechanical demand

The clinical week is broad. Routine care, complex diabetic and wound work, MSK and biomechanical assessment, orthotic prescription and review, minor procedures, and long-term patient management. You'd struggle to get bored.

The practice itself

Well-established, well-run, and stable. The team is friendly and clinically respectful of each other. Reception and admin handle the bookings, the billing, and the rebate paperwork properly, which means clinicians spend their day on clinical work rather than on data entry. Treatment rooms are modern and equipped to a standard you'd expect of a good metropolitan practice. Clinical software is current.

The management style is grown-up: hands-off day-to-day, supportive when you need input, and genuinely interested in retaining clinicians for the long term. This is not a role for someone looking to pass through.

What's on offer

  • Competitive base salary, structured around WA private-practice rates
  • Incentive component on top of base for higher-billing clinicians
  • Funded CPD allowance and dedicated study leave
  • Relocation support available for interstate or overseas candidates
  • Clinical autonomy, a steady caseload from day one, and a clear pathway to grow into senior clinical responsibility over time
  • A practice that will invest in you if you're planning to invest in it

Who we're hoping to hear from

  • An AHPRA-registered Podiatrist, or someone eligible for registration
  • A clinician who enjoys real clinical variety — routine work through to high-complexity
  • Someone who communicates well with an older-adult patient base, and can hold their own with families and younger patients too
  • New graduates are genuinely welcome to have a conversation; structured mentoring is available
  • Above all: someone thinking about a proper career move rather than a short-term arrangement

A note on lifestyle

Not everyone's a coastal-town person, and that's fair. But if you've been quietly thinking about the coast, about not commuting an hour each way, about having your weekends actually feel like weekends — this is one of the parts of WA that delivers on that without asking you to give up professional standards or clinical interest.
