The Lapointe Lab (Basic Sciences Division, Fred Hutch) is hiring a Post Doctoral Research Fellow. The fellow will apply state-of-the-art biochemical and in vitro single-molecule microscopy assays to examine human translation initiation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working collaboratively and in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

The fellow will learn and apply cutting-edge biochemical and single-molecule assays to track interactions of single human proteins and ribosomes with single mRNAs in vitro. To do so, they will use biochemical, molecular biology, and biophysical approaches and necessary computational methods to analyze data. The fellow will present their work at group meetings and conferences and write up their work for publication. Secondary responsibilities include mentoring graduate students and research technicians and contributing positively to the lab community and intellectual environment.

  • Work collaboratively within the Lapointe Lab and with Hutch and external collaborators.
  • Apply for postdoctoral fellowships and/or career development awards.
  • Will contribute to the growth mindset philosophy of our group.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • At least one published first-author research paper in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • A strong foundation in hypothesis-driven, basic research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Independently motivated to think, plan, conduct, analyze, and document experiments and findings.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $95,014, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
