The Preschool Teacher – P-3 Certified creates a welcoming, engaging Head Start classroom where up to 15 children ages 3–5 can learn, grow, and thrive. Working closely with an Assistant Teacher, families, and other team members, the Preschool Teacher provides high-quality instruction, individualized assessment, and positive behavioral support to help children of all abilities achieve meaningful outcomes. This role incorporates the effective teaching practices outlined in our Teacher Success Rubric.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create a welcoming, child-centered classroom where up to 15 preschool-aged children of all abilities can learn, grow, and thrive.

  • Plan and implement developmentally, culturally, linguistically, and age-appropriate learning experiences based on children’s interests, needs, and developmental progress.

  • Build children’s early literacy, numeracy, language, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills through engaging daily lessons, consistent routines, and play-based learning.

  • Observe and assess children’s development using anecdotal notes and Creative Curriculum documentation, then use those insights to individualize instruction and adjust curriculum planning.

  • Review classroom-level child outcomes twice annually in partnership with the Education Coordinator and adapt instruction as needed.

  • Integrate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborate with colleagues and families to support children with disabilities and diverse learning needs.

  • Promote positive behavior by identifying possible causes of challenging behaviors, implementing preventive strategies, and teaching children new social and communication skills.

  • Build strong, respectful partnerships with families to support children’s learning, development, and behavior across the classroom and home.

  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and ensure children’s safety and active supervision in the classroom, during meals, on field trips, and throughout outdoor activities.

  • Model healthy nutrition and positive social skills by participating in family-style meals with children.

  • Partner closely with the Assistant Teacher and other team members to maintain a caring, organized, and engaging learning environment.

What You’ll Bring:
1. P-3 Teacher Certification (CEAS or Standard).

2. BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or BA/BS in related field with at least six (6) courses in ECE.
3. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
4. Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
5. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

How Much: This is a 10-month position that pays $59,127-$73,575 annually depending on education and experience.
