Overview
What You Will DoÂ
As a Procurement Manager, you will establish and lead a formal procurement function designed to support scalability, governance, and future MRP readiness. This role focuses on strategy, process design, and vendor framework development—not day-to-day purchasing execution.Â
You will partner closely with Purchasing, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Systems leadership to define procurement standards, strengthen vendor models, and align sourcing processes with long-term organizational growth.Â

A Typical Day at Prime ControlsÂ
Procurement Strategy & Function DevelopmentÂ
- Establish procurement as a formal business function with defined structure and operational frameworkÂ
- Develop procurement policies, standards, and governance modelsÂ
- Design scalable procurement processes aligned with future ERP and MRP initiativesÂ
- Create documentation and workflows to ensure consistency and complianceÂ
Vendor Strategy & Sourcing ModelsÂ
- Advise leadership on vendor strategy, preferred supplier models, and sourcing approachesÂ
- Define vendor performance standards and governance expectationsÂ
- Develop reporting frameworks to monitor vendor performance, risk, and complianceÂ
- Provide data-driven recommendations to support cost control and continuous improvementÂ
Materials Identification & Internal StandardsÂ
- Define internal standards for identifying and representing materials independent of distributor part numbersÂ
- Establish criteria for when to create new inventory items versus reuse existing onesÂ
- Design processes that allow multiple vendor part numbers to map to a single internal inventory IDÂ
- Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, and Systems to ensure part definitions are based on manufacturer specifications and functional equivalenceÂ
- Reduce duplicate inventory items and improve inventory visibility and MRP readinessÂ
Purchasing Enablement & Cross-Functional AlignmentÂ
- Support Purchasing by defining clear standards, workflows, and decision frameworksÂ
- Â Clarify ownership and handoffs between Procurement and PurchasingÂ
- Strengthen purchasing effectiveness while maintaining day-to-day buying responsibility within PurchasingÂ
MRP & Systems AlignmentÂ
- Ensure procurement processes align with ERP and MRP system requirementsÂ
- Collaborate with Materials Governance and Systems teams on part data and sourcing alignmentÂ
- Identify process or data gaps that could impact planning accuracyÂ
Continuous ImprovementÂ
- Evaluate current purchasing practices to identify inefficiencies or riskÂ
- Implement scalable improvements to strengthen governance and controlÂ
- Continuously refine procurement strategy as the organization evolvesÂ

- Demonstrated experience building or leading a procurement or sourcing functionÂ
- Strong understanding of procurement strategy, vendor management, and purchasing workflowsÂ
- Experience designing cross-functional processes and governance modelsÂ
- Ability to influence stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Finance, and SystemsÂ
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skillsÂ
- Comfortable operating in dynamic, evolving environmentsÂ
