This position provides specialist advice, support and assistance to staff engaged in procurement activities for works and a wide range of goods & services. The position will play a key role in meeting Council’s procurement objectives, facilitate end-to-end procurement activities, facilitate and engage in collaborative procurement activities and be involved with a number of short and long-term procurement projects across a variety of categories and initiatives.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide specialist end-to-end procurement advice, support, and assistance to staff engaged in procurement activities for works and a wide range of goods & services. Be able to review and provide advice to procurement evaluation panel members during the evaluation process.
  • Facilitate end-to-end tender and other procurement engagement activities for works and a wide range of goods & services.
  • Manage a variety of complex procurement tasks concurrently, within set timelines and with limited supervision to ensure compliant and planned objectives.
  • Engage in collaborative procurement activities with other Councils and partner organisations.
  • Participating and delivering within set timelines, several short and long-term procurement projects across a variety of categories and initiatives.
  • Timely and accurate compilation and execution of contracts related to works and a wide range of goods & services.
  • Support and incorporate category management benefits across a wide range of categories.
  • Report on portfolio activity progress and be able to influence key levers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Support and incorporate the sustainability procurement agenda.
  • Provide effective support and guidance whilst ensuring compliance. Read, understand, comply with and uphold all relevant policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines, which are subject to change from time to time.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • The ability to make judgements and decisions within general guidelines and to evaluate alternative directions of action for consideration.
  • The ability to improve and / or develop methods and techniques for completing work and solving problems, generally based on previous experience. Problem solving may involve the application of these techniques to new situations.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing a variety of complex tasks concurrently, within set timeframes and with limited supervision to achieve compliant and planned objectives, despite conflicting pressures.
  • Time management skills inclusive of setting priorities and planning and organising one's own work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with contractors, staff, other entities and general public from diverse backgrounds.
  • The ability to display the appropriate degree of assertiveness and manage conflicting situations in a professional manner.

Required Certifications & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Procurement or relevant discipline or at least 3 years’ relevant work experience with demonstrated procurement knowledge.
