About this role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Product Director to join our Product team. The Product Director is a senior product leader responsible for owning the strategy, roadmap, prioritization, delivery, and performance of assigned product areas or product lines. This role translates company strategy, customer needs, market dynamics, and technical opportunities into clear product direction, while partnering closely with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, and Support to deliver measurable business and customer outcomes. The Product Director makes critical prioritization and investment tradeoff decisions, ensures successful product releases and adoption, and helps raise the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of product management practices across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy: Drive the product vision and strategy for assigned product areas or product lines, translating company priorities, customer needs, market opportunities, and technical capabilities into clear product direction.
  • Product Roadmap: Drive the roadmap, prioritization, and tradeoff decisions for assigned product areas, ensuring product investments align with company strategy and deliver measurable customer and business value.
  • Market Research: Develop a strong understanding of market dynamics, customer segments, emerging technologies, and competitive positioning to identify opportunities for product differentiation, expansion, and defensibility.
  • Customer Insights: Engage directly with customers and customer-facing teams to identify pain points, validate opportunities, and convert feedback into strategic product recommendations and roadmap decisions.
  • Requirements Definition: Lead discovery, validation, and requirements definition for assigned product areas. Translate customer, market, business, and technical insights into clear business cases, epics, features, and success measures while guiding less senior Product team members in effective requirements practices.
  • Product Development: Partner closely with engineering, design, and data science leaders to deliver high-quality software products, resolve cross-functional dependencies, manage delivery risks, and ensure releases are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to business outcomes.
  • Agile Methodology: Champion effective Agile and SaaS product development practices, helping improve planning, prioritization, delivery discipline, and predictability across assigned product areas.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Lead the full product lifecycle from discovery and concept validation through development, launch readiness, commercialization support, adoption, performance management, and post-launch optimization.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Define, monitor, and communicate product success metrics, using adoption, usage, customer feedback, revenue impact, operational data, and product health indicators to evaluate performance and guide ongoing investment decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive alignment with senior stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Support, Operations, Engineering, Design, and Data Science to resolve tradeoffs, ensure launch readiness, support adoption, and communicate product priorities, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor and synthesize competitive intelligence to influence product strategy, identify market opportunities, and strengthen the company’s differentiation and competitive advantage.
  • Team Leadership: Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement within the Product team and cross-functionally. Provide mentorship, operating guidance, and product management best-practice leadership to less experienced Product team members.
  • Other tasks as assigned: Perform other tasks as required to ensure successful functioning of the team, delivery of products on schedule and budget, and achievement of product-area business outcomes.  May include tasks typically assigned to more junior Product team members when needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 6+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of owning product strategy, roadmaps, prioritization, and successful delivery of SaaS-based products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead product discovery, make prioritization tradeoffs, define success metrics, and influence cross-functional stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Automotive industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with AI / machine learning and data science technologies preferred.
  • Experience with Agile development processes and tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, product usage tracking tools (Pendo, GainSight, etc.), UX design tools (Figma), strategy and road mapping tools (Aha!), and ticket tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Experience presenting product strategy, roadmap decisions, tradeoffs, and performance updates to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and product leadership abilities.
  • A passion for staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
