Production Team Leader

Department:  Thordon Production (Polymer, Tooling, Thorplas, Handbatching, etc.)

Reports to: Thordon Production Supervisor

 

Position Purpose & Objectives

The Production Team Leader is responsible for adhering to company policies to ensure the safe

operations of our team and for delivering a high-quality product, on time and in full. They will work closely with our Operators, fellow Leads, Supervisors and Managers to deliver the following duties & responsibilities.


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Ensure employees comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Standards and policies
  • Participate in incident follow-up and proactive initiatives to drive team safety improvement.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, free of debris, safe and effective per 5S principles.
  • Support product quality through training, operator feedback, audits, inspections, etc.
  • Lead stand-up meetings and communicate objectives, results and expectations to our teams.
  • Train employees on policies, procedures and production operations tasks.
  • Collaborate & communicate with planning team to prioritize on-time and in-full job completions.
  • Support material management processes to ensure adequate inventory of various materials.
  • Understand equipment capabilities and process capacities to support production requirements.
  • Ensure scheduled maintenance routines are understood and completed by team.
  • Work with Maintenance team and key stakeholders to improve equipment reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives utilizing experience and expertise.
  • Work with Accounting/HR/Leadership team to track labour hours, overtime, etc.
  • Provide support for other production cells, departments, etc. as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

5S and Lean Manufacturing Principles

  • Waste – Scrap Reduction, Raw material inventorying (KANBAN) and FIFO
  • Continuous Improvement – Productivity, Reliability, Efficiency

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Production/Manufacturing experience
  • Mechanical troubleshooting aptitude
  • Willingness and desire to learn

Physical Demands

While carrying out the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climb, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted; to work in, on, around, over, and under fixed equipment and machinery; work from lifts and ladders; manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies; concurrently manipulate multiple controls and machinery with pushing and pulling motions; work in hazardous or dirty, dusty, or uncomfortable environments including hot temperature conditions; and wear and work in personal protective equipment.
