JOB SUMMARY

Is seeking a professional Alternative dispute Resolution (ADR) Coordinator to provide mediation services for participants in Children in Need of Assistance (CINA), Termination of Parental Rights (TPR), Delinquency, and Peace Order Cases. This candidate will be experienced, energetic, and a multitasker, with strong administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors, evaluates, and implements improvements to the ADR Program
  • Monitoring is done as to performance, efficiency, and compliance to relevant court policies and procedures, applicable laws, ADR standard operating procedures and to improve the overall effectiveness of the program.
  • Recruits new ADR providers
  • Supervises and coordinates various operational areas and support for ADR services including training, forms design, development, and dissemination of information and training publications for ADR service providers, members of the judiciary, and the public.
  • Assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of ADR service providers
  • Prepares and mains all fiscal and statistical records relating to the ADR Program and generates related reports and analysis.
  • The position does not provide direct ADR services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must have a High School Diploma or GED but a bachelor’s degree is preferred. 

AND

Experience: Previous experience as a mediator or facilitator providing ADR services in a child welfare environment, as well as experience in coordinating an ADR Program that includes working with mediator service providers is preferred.  Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with MDEC is preferred.

OR

Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment, tact, diplomacy, and competence in dealing with judges, attorneys, court personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
  • Knowledge of Maryland Circuit Court alternative dispute resolution and legal procedures for juvenile cases desired.
  • Previous experience as a mediator or facilitator providing ADR services in a child welfare environment, as well as experience in coordinating an ADR Program that includes working with mediator service providers is preferred.

Background Check

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening, and must be successfully completed.

Probation

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.
