About this role

About the Role

KVP Energy Services is hiring a Project Controls Specialist to provide the hands-on data collection and entry that our Project Controls function depends on. This is the entry point into our Project Controls career track, and it's built around learning our core systems — Spectrum, Excel, and our timekeeping systems — while working under the direction of an Analyst, Supervisor, or the dedicated Cost Controller on a Tier 1 project.

You won't own data integrity or forecast accuracy in this role — but this is exactly where the habits that produce accurate data get built: complete timesheets, verified quantities, and clean, well-documented entries. It's a strong launching point for a career in project controls, cost engineering, or construction project management.

What You'll Do

Data Entry & Verification

  • Enter and verify daily production quantities and labor hours in Spectrum and our timekeeping systems under the direction of the assigned Analyst or Cost Controller.
  • Review timesheets for completeness, flagging any missing production data before it's submitted for reconciliation.
  • Support weekly quantity tracking activities across assigned Tier 2 and Tier 3 projects.

Cost & Reporting Support

  • Assist in compiling weekly and monthly cost reports, pulling actuals from Spectrum for review by the supervising Analyst.
  • Help maintain the change log by logging new change orders as they're opened and updating status as directed.
  • Support preparation of routine reporting packages and meeting materials.

Process Support

  • Support the team in preparing materials for Pre-Execution Handover and Day One Budget activities.
  • Assist with month-end close tasks: gathering documentation, confirming entries are current, and following up on open items.
  • Learn KVP's core Project Controls processes as the foundation for advancement to the Analyst level.

What Success Looks Like

You'll typically support multiple Tier 2 and Tier 3 projects concurrently under divisional Project Controls support, or assist a dedicated Cost Controller on a single Tier 1 project. All of your work is reviewed by an Analyst or above before it's finalized — this role is about building a strong foundation, not working independently yet.

What We're Looking For

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework toward a degree in construction management, business, finance, or a related field preferred.

Experience: 0–2 years in a construction, project administration, or data/reporting support role.

Certifications: None required at entry. Pursuit of AACEI's Certified Cost Technician (CCT) or Certified Schedule Technician (CST) is encouraged.

Systems:  Developing proficiency in Spectrum and general spreadsheet proficiency (Excel); ability to learn KVP's timekeeping systems required.

Why KVP Energy Services

KVP Energy Services is a project delivery organization built around a clear operating model: Project Controls owns the data, forecasting, and reporting; Estimating owns the numbers projects are built on; Scheduling owns the sequence of work; and the Project Manager acts on what these functions produce to deliver the project. Every project is staffed and measured according to its tier (Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3), so the level of Project Controls support scales to the size and complexity of the work.

This role sits on a defined, eight-level career track — from Project Controls Specialist all the way to VP of Project Controls — so your growth path is mapped out from day one.
