Job Description
The Railway Project Director is responsible for leading the planning, execution, delivery, and operational readiness of major railway infrastructure projects. This role provides strategic leadership across all project phases, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of System Integration team and Platform Screen Doors turn-key, during design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Establish project governance structures, performance measures, and reporting mechanisms.
- Ensure project objectives, milestones, and deliverables are achieved in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Provide strategic direction and decision-making support to project leadership teams.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, regulators, contractors, consultants, and community stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in executive-level meetings, steering committees, and project review boards.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve complex project challenges and disputes.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Oversee project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and financial performance.
- Monitor project costs and implement corrective actions to mitigate financial risks.
- Manage contracts and ensure compliance with commercial obligations.
- Support claims management, dispute resolution, and contract negotiations.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
- Ensure robust risk management frameworks are implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop contingency plans to address project delays, cost overruns, and technical challenges.
Engineering & Construction Oversight
- Provide leadership across the activities of the Systems Integration Team, assist and supervise the Project Manager for Platform Screen Doors system
- Ensure technical solutions meet operational requirements and industry standards.
- Monitor construction progress and ensure quality delivery of all project components.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Ensure project activities comply with railway regulations, statutory requirements, and organizational policies set-up by the Consortium.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the multidisciplinary project team.
- Drive high performance through effective workforce planning, coaching, and talent development.
- Foster collaboration across internal and external project stakeholders.
Construction, Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee Construction, testing and commissioning activities to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Manage project closeout and transition to operations and maintenance teams.
- Ensure all project documentation and regulatory approvals are completed prior to handover.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline
- 15+ years of experience in major infrastructure, transportation, or railway projects.
- Proven experience leading large-scale railway, metro, LRT, MRT, or high-speed rail projects
- Strong understanding of railway systems including track, signalling, telecommunications, power systems, PSD, rolling stock and stations.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex stakeholder environments
- Shows strong leadership of multicultural team , strategic thinking, and decision making
- Contractually astute, with a good understanding of contract management, budget control, financial analysis
- Excellent communication skills, stakeholder engagement and influencing
