PROJECT ENGINEER – FEDERAL SITE CONSTRUCTION

Overview
Our client is a 100% employee-owned general contractor with a national reputation in commercial and federal construction — and they're currently running one of the busiest federal jobsites in their portfolio, with 6–7 concurrent projects for the US Army Corps of Engineers on-site right now.
This role has a front-row seat on high-profile federal work, embedded with a tight-knit project team working on some of the largest federal construction projects including air force bases, barracks, hangers, and more.
What You'll Do:
- Drive projects from pre-construction through closeout — supporting the Project Manager and Superintendent on schedule, budget, and documentation
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications, and keep project documentation airtight
- Manage the submittal process and schedules with subcontractors
- Create, track, and close out RFIs
- Schedule stakeholder meetings and distribute minutes
- Compile closeout packages — warranties, O&M manuals, and punchlist tracking
- Facilitate owner training and support permitting, inspections, and regulatory compliance
- Assist with quality control and warranty coordination
- Use MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), Bluebeam (preferred), and construction management software daily

Compensation & Perks
- Full-time, Direct-hire, salary role
- Bonus: 15% project completion bonus — standard across the company
- Schedule: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, typically 45–50 hrs/week

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management (or equivalent work experience)
- Prior Project Engineer experience preferred or strong equivalent experience
- OSHA 30 certification (or ability to complete upon hire)
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office; Bluebeam and construction management software experience a plus
- Federal/DOD or USACE construction experience a strong plus
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a background investigation and drug screening (federal project requirement)
- Willingness to travel up to ~25%
This is a full-time, onsite position based at the jobsite — it is not available as a remote or hybrid role. Our client does not provide visa sponsorship for this position; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
