About this role

Overview

The Project Manager I is responsible and accountable for the success of assigned projects from initiation to close, ensuring efficient and satisfactory completion. This role is responsible and accountable for all business aspects (i.e. technical, operational, and economical) of the requirements and analysis phase of a project or request. This role will work to evaluate customer requests and align requests with customers' strategic goals and objectives. This role works with staff members, technical teams, and external parties to develop and continuously manage the project schedule, budget, risks, client communication and reporting. The Project Manager I is accountable for every aspect of the project, including leading a team capable of meeting or exceeding client expectations for their vision. Additionally, this role will maintain and control project scope and ensure project metrics are developed and achieved with agreed-upon outcomes.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

-Manages project assignments and ensures delivery within budget, schedule, and project scope.

-Develops documentation to define and support a project’s business needs, including, but not limited to business cases, business and technical requirements, project scope, budgets, resources, timelines, and operational transitional plans.

-Analyzes a wide range of complex problems by evaluating various data factors to develop effective solutions.

-Schedules, coordinates, and leads meetings/presentations with customers and technical teams to understand, identify, and define business needs, control and blockers for resolution decision-making.

-Obtains and evaluates Statements of Work (SOW) and implementation plans from external third-party vendors and business units.

-Develops and presents project business cases or project charters to stakeholders for review/approval.

-Monitors formal solicitations, contracting and legal contract processes until completion as related to the project.

-Develops and manages detailed project plan, including schedule, project activities, assignments, resources, and achievement milestones.

-Creates and manages the project schedule and coordinates appropriate resource scheduling for all required project tasks.

-Develops, tracks and reports on project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

-Coordinates and manages project kickoffs, ensuring that all appropriate customer and technical resources are involved and understand the projects roles and responsibilities.

-Identifies resource needs.

-Maintains a resource plan.

-Manages relationships with project stakeholders, sponsors, and Joint Tech leadership, including internal and external clients and vendors, ensuring ongoing communication of progress, in order to manage expectations on all project requirements and deliverables.

-Analyzes lessons learned and shares with other PMO team members, managers, technical teams, and customers.

-Acts as the point of contact for all internal and external project communication and documentation throughout project's entire lifecycle.

-Identifies, oversees, and prepares budget estimations (including equipment, human and time resource costs).

-Manages all resource/expenditures based on project budget throughout the project lifecycle.

-Communicates any updates and/or issues impacting profitability.

-Manages and facilitates the testing and training of new applications, assets, integrations, systems, and/or infrastructure through testing and training plans.

-Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using Joint Tech PMO change management processes.

-Develops and manages the transitions to operations plan to operational and support teams, ensuring successful hand-off to appropriate departments for on-going support/maintenance post-project closure.

-Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion according to department processes.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 

-4 years of experience working with customer and stakeholders to develop project documentation and managing project delivery within budget, on schedule and within project scope
