What is your mission?
We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support the financial operations of a growing real estate portfolio. The role is responsible for property accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, financial statement preparation, audit support, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records across multiple entities.
You will provide the best service to our partner brands by performing these tasks:
- Perform month-end reviews and prepare accounting entries for multiple financial entities
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, mortgage statement verification, accounts receivable, security deposits, and accounts payable tie-outs
- Review prepaid expenses, liability accounts, and equity balances to ensure accuracy
- Conduct monthly income statement reviews to support accurate financial reporting
- Review accruals and identify missing, duplicate, or inaccurate accounting entries
- Verify utility accruals using current billing information
- Investigate vendor discrepancies, payment errors, and tenant credit applications
- Review account coding and prepare reclassifications and capital adjustments for misclassified transactions
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for financial review processes
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting procedures, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Assist with annual audits and coordinate with external audit teams
- Respond to internal inquiries related to assigned properties and financial transactions
- Analyse cash requirements and facilitate monthly cash transfer requests as needed
- Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial records and reports
Who are we looking for?
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- 1 to 3 years of experience working with financial statements and general accounting procedures
- Experience in real estate accounting, property accounting, or a related industry is an advantage
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes
- Experience supporting month-end close activities, financial reviews, and financial statement preparation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reporting, and reconciliation activities
- Experience with Yardi is an advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support internal stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, organisational, reconciliation, and time management skills
- Ability to review and interpret financial statements and identify discrepancies
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Professional approach to handling confidential financial information
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and process enhancement
