Overview

Graham Packaging is seeking a Proposal Engineer that will drive growth by developing compelling technical solutions and execute all phases of the quoting process. The Proposal Engineer should be located at the Graham Technical Center in York, Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties of a Quoting Engineer include:

  • Analyze Requests for Quotation (RFQ’s) for rigid plastic packaging
  • Develop a compelling technical solution including suitable equipment, technology, plant, and mold & tooling for simple to complex projects.
  • Gather operations, supply chain, and engineering information to complete proposal
  • Answer technical inquiries from sales and customer for bid clarifications
  • Calculate expected line output and capability
  • Accurately estimate, track, and communicate the project cost. Pursue cost savings in all areas.
  • Provide status and progress reports to the commercial organization
  • Facilitate the handoff of the technical solution from engineering to pricing
  • Maintain detailed, complete and timely records to accurately communicate solution and assumptions.
  • Improve the quoting process through tools, templates, and process

The following skills and proficiencies are essential requirements of the position:

  • Technical acumen – demonstrated ability to understand technical details and contribute in technical discussions
  • Applied project quoting principles
  • Demonstrated experience developing an initial project scope, bottle specific equipment needs, and mold & tooling inputs.
  • Skilled in the selection of small to moderate-sized production lines that include: Converting Equipment, Decoration, Inspection and Finished Goods Handling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to high priority activity on very short notice
  • Execution driven attitude. Sets clear ambitious goals and achieves them.
  • Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Systems).
  • Experience in product development, operations, or mold and tooling development preferred
  • Preferred background designing industrial equipment, as a design or equipment engineer with a field of technical specialty.
  • Packaging/design engineering with experience in closures and/or bottles

 

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
