About this role

Job Description

As the Gage Coordinator you will have the opportunity to order and deliver all new in-process inspection, raw material inspection and various other Quality Assurance gages, and to oversee that the necessary changes are made to gages as approved.  To calibrate all gages as required and maintain accurate gage calibration records

 

This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is based out of our Anoka Location.

Shift: W (897)

Thursday through Sunday 5:00am – 3:00pm plus overtime as needed

Experience you bring:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of current inspection/ballistic test methods, procedures and equipment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication/documentation skills

  • Ability to utilize computer hardware and software

  • Blueprint reading skills

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Able to work in an efficient and cooperative manner

  • No disciplinary action at a Report of Conference level or above in the last 12 months

You might have:

  • Experience and knowledge in building and repairing gages is desirable

  • Post High School education desirable in any applicable field of study

  • Understanding of SPC methods

  • Metrology training or experience

  • Good safety record

What you’ll do:

  • Collects information for requested gages from supervisors or engineering staff, determines availability within company and initiates and follows through on new gage orders as necessary.

  • Ensures that any necessary changes are made to gages already in existence to reflect approved product and/or inspection changes.

  • Builds new gages as parts are received from Machine Shop.

  • Cleans and calibrates all gages and weight scales in Shotshell, Rimfire, Centerfire, and Primer Plant.

  • Repairs or rebuilds damages or worn gages. 

  • Orders all spare parts needed for gage repair. Works with engineers and production in design of gages.

  • Uses PC for keeping gage calibration, cleaning and repair records.

  • Coordinates efforts with personnel in other departments to effectively complete work within established guidelines.

  • Observes and enforces all safety and housekeeping rules and takes corrective action on unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards.

  • Inspects tools and machine parts made by outside vendors or in-plant machine shop against blueprints using numerous inspection instruments

Physical Requirements: Time is split between sitting (writing reports), moving about (collecting samples and inspecting), and standing (inspecting).  Reaching, handling, and manual dexterity are required for gage building and repair.  Frequent lifting, pushing and manipulating of objects weighing up to 20 pounds, with infrequent lifting up to and over 50 pounds. Occasional stooping and kneeling required for gage repair. Good vision is required for visual inspection.

Mental Requirements: High attentiveness and regard to detail is required to work with minute calibration tolerances, to analyze data, and to work with government contract details.  Flexibility is required to effectively handle interruptions in tasks. Ability to initiate and prioritize multiple tasks necessary.  Math skills are required for gage design.  Problem solving ability is necessary to find and correct quality problems. Writing skills are required to prepare daily reports.   Interpersonal communication skills are necessary to interact daily with work teams and to facilitate problem-solving.

Equipment Used:  Testing equipment, personal computer.

Working Environment: Majority of work is spent on the manufacturing floor subject to continual exposure to noise/vibration, dust and dirt, mechanical equipment hazards and moving equipment such as fork trucks and motorized carts.  Position requires working with and around others as a part of or adjunct to formal and informal work teams.

Work Environment:

Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range:

$24.62 - $35.77

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
